I don't think you know the exacts of what a cult really is.
Here... here's an example of a cult:
This is what Scientologists ACTUALLY believe:
Xenu was an alien ruler of the "Galactic Confederacy" who, 75 million years ago, brought billions of people to Earth in spacecrafts resembling Douglas DC-8 airliners, stacked them around volcanoes and blew them up with hydrogen bombs. Their souls then clustered together and stuck to the bodies of the living. The alien souls continue to do this today, causing a variety of physical ill-effects in modern-day humans. L. Ron Hubbard (a science-fiction writer and the creator of Scientology) called these clustered spirits "Body Thetans," and the advanced levels in Scientology place considerable emphasis on isolating them and neutralizing their ill effects.
To rid ourselves of "Body Thetans", we have to go through "auditing" with a member of the “church” who uses an "e-meter" to measure our “reactive mind” in order to clear our mind of “engrams” (past negative experiences stored in our unconscious mind)...... and we have to pay lots and lots and lots of money to take courses on Scientology to advance to higher “levels” in the “church”.
Scientology is undeniably a cult.
Every cult can be defined as a group having all of the following five characteristics:
1. It uses psychological coercion to recruit, indoctrinate and retain its members
2. It forms an elitist totalitarian society.
3. Its founder leader is self-appointed, dogmatic, messianic, not accountable and has charisma.
4. It believes 'the end justifies the means' in order to solicit funds & recruit people.
5. Its wealth does not benefit its members or society.
Are Cults Harmful?
To remain within the strict mental and social confines of a cult for even a short time can have the following disastrous effects:
Loss of choice and free will. Diminished intellectual ability, vocabulary and sense of humor. Reduced use of irony, abstractions and metaphors. Reduced capacity to form flexible and intimate relationships. Poor judgment. Physical deterioration. Malnutrition. Hallucinations, panic, dissociation, guilt, identity diffusion and paranoia. Neurotic, psychotic or suicidal tendencies.

There are a million definitions accessible, yet indexed under are 2 that i think of are the main sensible: a million. Formal - a faith is a longtime concept equipment, and a cult is a permutation or altered version. E.g., technically Christianity is a cult of Judaism, and Mormonism is a cult of Christianity. 2. uncomplicated - the uncomplicated be attentive to-how is tha a mainstream faith is a longtime faith held by thousands and thousands. E.g. Christianity, Islam, Judaism, and so on. A cult in this view could be a unfavourable sect that alters the coaching of stated faith and generally has extra sinister factors like bilking for funds, communes that may not enable you to touch your loved ones, ritual abuse of any form, and so on. So, those are quite the two superb how you are able to comprehend the words. desire that helps. Ath

If you want a good laugh, Google "Cult Watch." It will bring up many sites that basically consist of one religion call all others cults. There is even one site of a small church in Maryland that essentially lists every church, religion, and belief system that they can think of and calls them all cults. I believe that there cult list now numbers over 300, one of which is the Catholic church.
Faith is from God.
Religion is from Man.
Just because I do not follow someone's religion does not mean that I have no faith in God.
Just because I am not Christian does not mean that God will not talk to me.
BTW, my faith does not have a book of fiction associated with it, so I certainly feel your pain. I think the gene pool needs a little chlorine.

some "religions" are indeed cults... (in fact every cult will call any other faith system as cults)
but some people who waste their sunday mornings (saturday or any other day) go to "church" to listen to (ancient) Scriptures translated into a common language because even though people know the concept of good and evil, people still choose the evil things.
so these people come together to get strength from God and inspiration from another person's lessons, who have went through the same problems some people are going through but have survived.
now, the real question is that why do man... (even man from 3,000 years ago or man from a culture who have no contact with any outside culture for generations)... why do they have the common sense to know to love each other, not to steal, and do "good stuff" when nobody told them about it or even read about it? (maybe early man wrote down such writings--which became Scriptures--to instruct modern man who they will not be able to reach with any other way)
why? is it because it is instinctively inside each man to know the difference between good and evil & because man instinctively lean towards the evil things, that man (instinctively) gravitated into the knowledge of a higher power (God) and that by that they started doing rituals and sacrifices... trying to reach a god...
and that is why we have some religions that are nothing but cults as you say. but if there is a God (the Creator) who originally placed that instinct for us to know the concept of good and evil...
and that he knows that we will always lean on the evil things...
and a God who told ancient man to write down Scriptures for the next generations, who he knows will be more perverse than its succeeding generation
isn't it possible that he will eventually (or always) have that plan to reach us (instead of us reaching to him, because that is good as compared to not reaching out to him which is evil)... wouldn't that contact with God be something that is not cultic, but maybe realistic, or even possible, or probable?
and maybe even one "religion" (or belief system) might have gotten it right?

Indeed, "Show me your money, Give me your money". Does that sound like god? I believe that Religion (any) was created to keep people fearful and thus under control. As with anything now in society. We are fed lies everyday, not just through religion! But as I say, there are far too many "Sheeple" instead of People nowadays!

dude i think there is something in yor heart that is aching for peace. where else do you explain this anger coming from....
anyway Christians never claimed to be perfect but we do try through the grace of God to live by His Word....but we are still human that is why Jesus came to set us free from sin because without His sacrifice on the cross there would be absolutely no way that we as humans could fulfill His will....
i hope this sheds a bit of light on why so many fall short of the glory of God.

Religion of christian,muslims..etc are just ideas or sets of idea when accepted or brainwashed so to speak, will gradually becomes a group, cult or an organization which obviously will have political interest
a true person seeking so called god truly knows that his religion is for himself and god ,so his beliefs can never grow into a group or cult coz there's no name for his religion.
He called himself HUMAN
so give yourself some peace man

I say you don't know what you are talking about ,listen here you need to get a grip, WE know what we worship mister potty mouth, and from the sound of your language we know who you worship too.Our collection for the needy saints every SUNDAY goes for just that. Our preacher does not take pay for doing what the Lord called him to do. Freely the Lord gave this gift to him (his ability to preach) so freely he gives to all of us every SUNDAY ,when we come together to break bread, sing, pray, hear the preaching, and give just what we are commanded to do by GOD, nothing more, nothing less. these are the commandments of GOD to honor his dear son, until he returns. You need to get the facts about a real church, not this FAKE mess on TV who are just in it for the MONEY,,believe me they have their wealth here on earth, but it won't do them one good where they are going for this evil they are doing to poor people that don' t know any better. Yes they will get their reward, but I don't think it will be what they are expecting......

Most churches are not rich and they still help people by way of donations, food, housing and all kinds of aid you can think of. Not only don't you go to church, it looks as though you missed a lot of school too.
