In August, my partner and I visited Notredame, in Paris. As we were climbing the staircase to the top, we looked out of one of the windows and there was a baby pigeon in its' nest. We comented at the time that we had never seen one before.

Unlike (say) Partridge or Woodcock, squabs, being fairly small are often covered by the gravy and vegetables.

you might tell one that has just left the nest by the little bits of yellow down on it's head. they look very bright eyed and have the same 'wow, look at that' reaction to everything.

Because they wear disguises,usually as rats with hats and thick rimmed glasses with walking sticks,and umbrellas

because they stay in the nest until fully grown, which takes about 7 days from hatch to full grown.
