The peat moss is loose. Often it does not have any chemicals in it. It is more of a 'turf builder' than a fertilizer. And no, it won't harm your dog, but he can get awful dirty rolling around in the grass, as peat moss is light and staticy.

I'm not sure where you're going with this but peat moss is not fertilizer. If you are putting fertilizer on your lawn than yes, many are petroleum based and can cause problems with your dog... read the caustions section on the label. If it's just organic matter (peat) you're adding, then don't worry about it.

This all depends on where you have gotten the peat moss from. If it is the usually peat moss that you obtain from a garden store and it's packaged and processed, it should be fine.

If it is fresh peat moss, processed at a local farm, there is a chance there may be parasites, bacteria and even whip worms that can harm your dog.

Some fertlizers contain toxic chemicals. It is a good idea to restict the dog from the area that have been fertlized for a few days. Peat moss should pose no issues.

No... pure peat moss will definately not be harmful to your dog.

We've actually used it to bed down horse's stalls for horses with laminitis (severe foot problem in horses) and never had any of them have a reaction to it.

It does make an excellent fertilizer though, and really helps your lawn!!! (Especially after it's been in a stall and is mixed with poo!)

Good luck!!!
