I've seen something like this on HGTV -- if you're talking about old windows with wooden sashes between the panes, you can mount them on an otherwise blank wall, put a planter-box under them and fill it with flowers (real or silk). If you like the distressed look (my wife hates it, and I think we're rough enough on our furniture that our stuff gets distressed soon enough without trying!), you could leave the old paint in place, chips and all. Personally, I'd mask the glass and paint the sashing in a strong accent color that would contrast with the wall behind it.

Shutters next to the windows would be cute as well, or a curtain-rod with a swag draped across it in a fabric that coordinates with your room decor, depending on whether you want to convey the feeling that you're outside looking in or inside looking out.

Now, in our family, I'd probably ask my oldest daughter to paint flowers on the wall behind the window; she's getting her BFA and loves to do nature paintings (I'm looking at three of her flower "portraits" as I write this). But what you do with the view "through" this imaginary window is up to you.

...And I just remembered WHERE I've seen something like this before -- a friend has a decorative wall mirror, on which they glued wooden strips over the mirror to LOOK like an old-fashioned window, and then built the planter-box under it. You could try to find a mirror the size of the window and mount it behind the window itself; it's a very charming look.

I'm assuming that your into the whole antique look, so here's what I would do:
Take any color paint (water based, you can find them at stain stores but they are actually paints for wood) and paint the window frames with this, usually 2 coats will do, then take 300+ grit sandpaper (the finishing kind) and lightly sand it down. If you want the antique look then sand the edges and corners more until you start to see the woodgrain again. Then take laquer and put a thin coat of laquer over them for protection. For decorating, put them anywhere you have room, bunch them together or spread them out (they usually are bunched). Also, if you buy a sponge tipped brush instead of a bristle brush, you will get better results and it's 10 times easier to pain.

Good Luck!! =)

A great idea is to take an old window frame, attach glass to be the back of it to create a mirror.
You can also screw hooks into the bottom of window to hang hats, necklaces, scarves etc. Makes something really neat to hang on the wall.
I like that shabby chic look so I left the paint like it was to give it that old look, but really you can paint the window any color you want to match your colors.
Good luck! :)

If you are into gardening, old windows can be used to make a small hot house for starting plants,
If you are artistic you can paint a picture on an old window and hang it on a wall.

No no no. do no longer play with the partitions. there are various 'gotchyas' in what you're proposing right here. and don't take it to Fry's or the Geek Squad, till you merely choose the drives wiped w/ XP reinstalled (in all probability re-put in poorly, too! ) in case you decide directly to backup information, you need to eliminate thechronic, and slave it into yet another device. In maximum portables, it rather is in trouble-free terms a rely of removing 2 screws and pulling thechronic out of the device. you could pickup USB adapters for pc drives from maximum laptop shops. as quickly as thechronic is hooked as much as a distinctive computer, you would be waiting to snatch your maximum severe information, and circulate it to a distinctivechronic. on the same time as related to a distinctive laptop, it may additionally be recommended to run anti-virus and anti-spyware utility against your notebookchronic. Doing so won't thoroughly sparkling thechronic of this an infection (because of the fact the registry won't be able to be wiped sparkling this way), even yet it rather is going to in all probability take out many of the executable and .dll data of the virus/malware an infection, and it will in all probability go away your pc bootable from thischronic lower back. Reinstall the notebookchronic into your computer, then installation and shipment anti spyware utility on your pc, as quickly because it rather is executed being wiped sparkling by using the different computer. in case you haven't any longer have been given anti-virus or anti-spyware put in on the two computer, i individually advise AVG loose version AntiVirus and SuperAntiSpyware (additionally loose for cleansing and scanning). The hyperlinks are in my source notes. i know the holiday to the laptop keep is a hastle, just to purchase an adapter on your pc's 2.5 inchchronic, yet my approach is exactly the final thank you to recuperate out of your concern, if your trouble-free laptop skills are reliable adequate. This is composed of far much less soreness than reinstalling the O/S, the homestead windows Updates, the drivers, the toolbars, and all your apps. i'm hoping that enables! -Lee

Depending on the size, how about using them as wall art?
Add a picture or photo like the outdoors or family behind it.
Keep it looking Country or Americana.
