I've seen that claim several times here. I find it astonishing - one of the most pathetic things I've ever heard, in fact - and extremely ironic from a group that claims at the same time to value life.
Now, certainly there are individual Christians who have some kind of reasonable way to reconcile the two claims. But in general, I simply don't think that the Christians (those who think that life is pointless) really understand what it means to value life, but know that it sounds good to claim that they do. That's certainly consonnant with the differences between the atheists (whose behavior demonstrates that they value life) and the right-wing Christians (who merely pay lip service to the idea).

Yes, and they see no reason to live a moral life without the fear of God and hell. They claim that belief in God is the only thing that keeps them from committing evil acts. Scary people. No wonder American Prisons are filled with a higher percentage of the christian population then the percentage of the Atheist population. They based there morality on fear and might instead of reason.

Well, if they are a Christian, then they beleive in God. If their beleif was to change to another religion, they would probably still see reason to live for that new religion. If they were a Christian and suffered through a hardship, to make them those belief in that God, then they might see a reason not to live depending on the circumstance.

the best proof tht i can gove you for the existance of God is the growth of a baby in its mothers womb.in the first trimester organs are formed, in the second trimester muscle development is complete, third trimester the baby's bone marrow now produces blood and after 9 months the baby is due. how come everything is so perfect, and the same pattern is followed by women all over the world. something to think about

Paul had a grasp of the question :
For if there is no resurrection of the dead, then Christ has not been raised either. And if Christ was not raised, then all our preaching is useless, and your trust in God is useless. And we apostles would all be lying about God, for we have said that God raised Christ from the grave, but that can't be true if there is no resurrection of the dead. If there is no resurrection of the dead, then Christ has not been raised. And if Christ has not been raised, then your faith is useless, and you are still under condemnation for your sins. In that case, all who have died believing in Christ have perished! And if we have hope in Christ only for this life, we are the most miserable people in the world. 1st Corinthians 15:13-19

Ive asked this before. You wont get any decent responses...they cannot for even one moment consider what the world would be like without their mythical God. Therefore, no real answers. (right above me from Preacher - perfect example...)
I, myself, find it almost sad that people have the idea that without God, there is no purpose to life and no "hope". Ive tried to ask what "hope" is, as I do not understand this concept....Im alive right now, I try to live life as best as I can and treat my fellow man as I want to be treated.....what is it that I am supposed to be hoping for???

I would think that ANY person would see that.
I mean do people really think they are here to live about 70-80 years..and then thats it ? That they are nothing more than highly evolved animals ? That is truly sad

If there is no God then we wouldn't have been created. We only exist because there is a God.

I don't know about others, but I believe if God wasn't in my life I would have died the first second I was born.
