A pale sunny yellow...helps you wake up in the morning. Use lots of blue and white accents to make it look even fresher. These colors look great with both light and dark woods. The light wood will give your kitchen a French or even Scandinavian look.

There is a great color visualizer at this site that might help you in choosing a color.

I love earthy and primitive colors so my kitchen is in the brown neutral family.
My sister has a cranberry kitchen which was really pretty. Light wood trim would match as well.
Think of the theme you like best and how you want to feel in the kitchen, maybe you are more into mexican style colors, yellows, green's etc...
Your light would should really go with just about anything.
Good luck

Depending what you like but I chose a deep red and there's really no theme although the kitchen curtains above the sink are white with grape vines so throughout the kitchen there's like a wine theme going and it looks great with our white ceramic tile, almond colored cabinets and tan and white countertops. Tangerine is aso a cool daring and bold color to do in a kitchen, plus it would brighten it up and I believe orange entices the apetite. If you're a coffee drinker, there's always cool coffee themes going on for kitchens out there. I like wine and coffee themes. Plus, orange would look nice with coffee or if you're not as daring and wanna go safer there's always taupe and brown.

It depends on how big your kitchen is really as to how dark you want to paint. Smaller rooms should not be painted too dark as it makes them look even smaller, but if you have a lot of cabinets and not a whole lot of wall space you could go darker. I love the earth tone colors and they do look good with lighter wood trim. The one thing you should remember about painting yellow, yellow is one of the hardest colors to cover if you ever decide to get rid of it.

I don't like a theme for any room, such as ducks, apples and grapes, themes will soon be replaced, I have been there and done that. In my kitchen I have light oak cabinets and went with a light olive green and bought the textured paint that you add the sand in, it looks really great, for my accessories bought some solid color pitchers in red, white and green and then added a few pictures with basil, cloves, herbs and greenier, real simple and looks great.

With the light wood you may want to go for a cool tone...like a sage or slate blue to create contrast. I think these colors look best with light wood and stay contemporary...but can also lend themselves to other themes. A cool white would work well too. If you want a much bolder color....go for a brick red

I love yellow and sunflowers. That is the theme of my kitchen. I always go with light colored walls. It makes the room seem more open and airy. John Tesh just said on his morning show that blue is not a good color for the kitchen because it dampens the appitite. Good luck and happy decorating.

The first thing is to find a theme, then go to the paint store and get lots of samples. You can use any color you like. It's all about personal taste, unless you're looing to sell or it's a rental. If it's a rental you might want to check with the landlord prior to doing any painting

I have a terracotta paint in my kitchen with an apple theme. Cute! JUst about any shade of green would be nice or a neutral color like a beige or mocha brown.

I have a sun shine Tuscan yellow in my kitchen. It has a bit of orange tinge to it. I have light cabinets, but the paint is only eye level and above. Under the cabinets you can put a contrasting color of your choice. If your cabinets are pale I would consider vibrant colors.
