If you have a myspace profile, that is set public, but doesn't tell your town or location, what's wrong with puting baby pictures up? I'm not saying it's right or wrong...I just want answers. I don't understand the risk.

Just so everyone knows--I'm not there to meet new people. I'm only there because I grew up in a military community and I'm trying to get in touch with old friends I haven't seen in a long time. I've found a lot of my old friends--and I think it's great. Just for clarification--for me--it's not to meet new people.

I have a myspace account for the exact same reason and I have a picture of my baby on there. I dont see anything wrong with it. There are sickos out there but you cant do anything about that.

I don't have a Myspace, but I do have livejournal and belong to a couple of forums where other people sometimes post pictures of their children.
The reason I haven't posted any pictures of our daughter online, and won't be doing so in the future, is because I have heard too many stories of people stealing baby photos and passing them off as their own children. If you have your profile set to private, I guess I don't see a problem with it. But unless you don't mind people passing your children off as their own, I wouldn't post them publicly.
Our daughter is 8 1/2 months old, and I just yesterday uploaded a photo of her to use as an icon for my lj posts... it only shows her feet! :-)

I say if you're going to have your kids pictures up, stick to having a private profile and only speak with people you know on there. Its the safest bet for your and your family to be safe.
I knew of a girl who actually had spoken to a stranger on myspace and he had gotten her information and broken into her home when she was home alone with her two young daughters. They were lucky enough to escape thru the window and get to a neighbors to call 911, but needless to say she was scared to all heck and deleted her account on MySpace immediately.
If you insist on being what they call a "MySpace Wh*re" and speaking to all sorts of strangers, keep the family pictures off of your page to protect them.
FYI i'm not calling you a wh*re... or disrespecting you in any way. That is just how i have heard it be termed when discribing people who speak to anyone and everyone on that site.

because there are too many sick people and psychos out there - and just because you dont put the location where you are doesnt mean they couldnt find you if they wanted. i had a myspace when it FIRST started and had my kids pics up there but myspace got way outta control and i deleted my account. its just a risk im not willing to take......plus i was getting too old for that :)

Their are alot of sick people in this world who knows what they could do with a picture of your child ( post a missing child ad just an idea of what they could do) And I'm sure there are alot more things crazy people could come up with . Maybe you could use Yahoo!360 or you could use Yahoo! IM Just some other alternatives .

my profile is private. My list just contains friends and family. I post pictures of my daughter up there so family can see them instead of sending out a mass email.
I don't need some petaphile looking at my daughter.

i don't see the big deal with even having your name location and pictures on myspace... unless you have a very unique name like Tiofila Panfila... and you live in a small little town... even then.. how would they find you? IF someone wanted to... its retarded the way they say myspace is dangerous for kids.... in my opinion yeah it if dangerous for retarded kids that don't know right from wrong... when i was 11 10 or even 9 i knew right from wrong and i would never go and meet someone from the Internet.

i ended up putting mine on private because my daughters real father (who hasn't done ANYTHING for her at all) found mine and took a picture of her and put it on his page w/o asking me. yeah i konw he's the real father but it takes a man to be a dad... or however the saying goes. it just makes me mad how he would do it...

I have a public profile with my children's pictures on it. Some people say not to because petifiles might masturbate to pictures of your child.
