Well you're basically raising her. I would charge NO LESS than $250 a week, maybe extra since she has you using cloth.

Is this your profession? I take my daughter to daycare, she's 4, 2 days a week. I pay $33 a day. They provide breakfast, lunch and 2 snacks. But in the fall (during the school year) they have "special days" once a month where they bring in a snack for everyone.
When there is a special event, I have to pay extra money. Example..a trip to the movies - $7 + money for snacks, the park - $2 plus a packed lunch, tour of a business - $4.
I'd ask her to pay you at least $30-$35 a day to cover the cost of food. If you plan on a trip to the zoo, let her know ahead of time and tell her that you are planning it, and she should send some money with her child to pay for entrance fees and/or lunch for the day.

In home daycares charge anywhere from $75 to $150 a week where I live. So I would call around or contact DHS to find out what the average cost is for in home daycare. You don't have to tell them all this information, just find out an average cost. You can then tack on a few extra bucks for your inconvenience.
The other thing, you didn't mention, is are you a licensed day care? If not, then you're kind of (in my opinion) on the fine line. I would find out what your state laws say about that as well. If it's OK to take care of a child (and it might be, seeing it's only one person) then again, go with the above plan.

I have a 2 yr. old, I have a sitter who watches her at her house, about 8 1/2 hrs. a day, five days a wk. I pay her $20 a day, I provide the food and drink. I am probably going to offer more, as even though I send food, my child ends up eating hers also, because she's around other kids eating different things. She also takes her with her to places, like her kids' school events occasionally, or to the park, or just outside to play. Here, daycare is $32 a day for her age, they provide the meals and snacks, I just bring the diapers, etc.

I have been burnt in this situation many, many times before. I am not licensed, but did it on the side for some extra cash.
I believe your best bet(and I too did this), Print up some forms with the childs info on it, establish a contract(Payment for child care services are due on friday of each week, no exceptions, If your more than 2 weeks over due, this will be taken to small claims court where a 20% late charge PER DAY will be applied....etc), have the parent sign it, followed by another printed up page...
I love taking care of little suzy and enjoy having her here, but Because you have not offered me any compensation for my services, it has put a financial strain on me and my family. I regret to inform you that if You don't start paying for child care services rendered, I will not be able to afford to watch her....etc....Also Mrs. suzy's parents, I unfortunitly due to infection control am unable to allow "cloth diapers". For health and safety reasons You need to start providing disposable diapers.....I apoligize for this inconvienenince.
Firm but gentle.
Many of the parents agreed to this and signed the contract with no questions asked. Keep a copy and give them a copy for their personale records.
Unfortunitly, I had to take a few parents to court, but I came out on top when I started this system. It still works too!
With that being said, depending on the area which you live(call around to other daycares and ask them their rates and if they allow cloth diapers)I would charge an even $100 a week and extra for outings..
I wish you the best of luck. I know this is very hard to do as you grow emotionally attatched to the child as they do to you as well....
Sincerly,
SB

Okay. You should be getting about 5 an hour plus ,they need to pay you for the food. If your daughter is not getting the attention that that she deserves, you need to stop watching the little girl. Your daughter needs to come first. I watched two brats ( they were really rude and mean to my 3 year old ) for about 1 an hour . Their parents were moving into a new house and I was just doing it for a couple of weeks until they could find someone else. Instead of taking the money I took a couch and a dresser. Even after all of the she got all of her baby sitting worth from me for the furniture, she still didn't pay me anything. I used to allow people to take advantage of me, but not anymore. Her daughter fibbed to me and threw a cat at my daughters face ( she got really scratched up ) and then pushed her down the slide and bent her neck. I refuse to have anything to do with any of them. Stop letting them take advantage of you. I will never watch anyone Else's children ever again. Its not worth it.

I have 3 children in Daycare. If you are watching someones child and you do all the things you do plus put up with the changes such as cloth diapers, I would charge $70 a day and not one penny less! Good luck and tell them what you expect! Be assertive!

Check with day care providers, in your area,to see what their profit margin is. Then, figure what you're paying out in food costs, field trips and utilities to watch this child. Charge the parents enough to cover your costs, and make an acceptable profit, based on what your location can bear.
Remeber, even though they're paying you, you're doing them a much bigger favor by watching their child. If they don't like the increase... advise they need to find another day care provider, and severe the business relationship.
Your bank balance, and relationship with your daughter, will benefit.
Be polite, yet firm, with your request.
Good luck!

Ok you need to set some rules with this mom... if you are to feed the child and must provide the meals, she must pay extra for that. Otherwise she can send food from her home daily for her daughter to eat. My daughter goes to a child care center from 7am-5pm daily (she is 21 months old). My tuition for her is $165 a week but i provide all food and beverages, diapers, wipes and diaper cream. If there is a field trip we parents pay for that too.
Its a general courtesy that she should be extending to you. She needs to be spoken with SOON before she keeps walking all over you.

I have a home daycare & I charge 140/week for 6 weeks-12 months, 130 /week for 13-24 months, and 120 for 25 months-5 years.
breakfast, lunch & a snack are included(only served if they are here at the time of service)
I also provide wipes, they have to bring thier own disposible diapers (I do not allow cloth, it is against our health regulations- thank god!)
I pay for any outings, artwork, ect.. we do- right now one in enrolled in a 3 hour preschool program... they have to pay for that but I transport (they still pay me my full rate) And pretty soon I will be taking 2 of them to tiny ballerina's class... again, the parent's pay for that but I will transport.

well, I was watching a boy over the summer for 9 hours a day and I was chargeing 75$ a week. I fed him breakfast lunch and a afternoon snack. If we went anywhere he went also. He is adhd and a.d.d and this child is not nice at all. he is a very hateful little boy, so he is rubbing off on my 4 years old litttle boy. I should probably charge more a week too.
