But has been through a rough divorce & has some insecurities as a result. How do I best support him & give him what he needs to be even better than he already is?

Make sure you don't put negitive thoughts in his head!
make him feel good with WOW that's a GREAT idea!
and stuff like that other than that that's really all you can do the rest is up to him!
do what i'm doing with my mother of a kid.. i went to coping.org and pulled up personal tools for growth it's free. say that you need help in your life and you do it too! say you want a partner to keep you motivated at it and sence he is great at motivating you he is the ideal person to feel this space... if you make it seem like its you that needs help he will help you and he will learn a lot in the process and so will you!

Those insecurities will stay with him for a while after all they were given to him from someone who he wanted to be with for the rest of his life and now everything is al messed up so i'de just give him his time and space so he can soake up everything that is going on around him. Im sure you're someone special to him too, he cares about what you think about him so make him feel like hes on top of the world. Tell him how wonderful he is but dont downgrade the ex either. Dont try to change him right now, he has enough on his mind, Just be there for him. He will start to trust you and then it will fix the insecurites itself just give him some time. If you try to change him it will only make him think he isnt good enough for you and that will make things worse. Just remind him that you care about him.
