It is based on the hormone levonorgestrel and is usually placed on the upper arm through a small surgery.
I would like to know what I could expect when it comes to side effects? :-(

I have an IUD called Materna. It lasts 5 years. I haven't had any side effects.

weight gain, sickness, dizziness, shortness of temper are some of the side effects. If you arent sure how its going to effect you , get the 12 week injection of the depo first it does the same thing and if you dont like it then you know not to have the implant

Yes i had it it is called depo-provera and it is extremely painfull to me to have it implanted . I had it taken out because i was extremely sick all the time . I had blurred vision as well . So it was definately not for me . Have to be carefull with what you take anymore. Good Luck to you.
