If he is a tabby...can you see the stripes if you shave off the fur? If he has spots, will he still be spotted?

Funny you should ask, I had to shave a part of my Tiger Tabby and found just gray skin under where the fur was, she had balls of matted fur and I could not comb them out so I just shaved them off, she was trying to pull them out and that is why I shaved them off. She is ok now, but there are no patterns on her skin.

Yup, their color markings go all the way to the skin. A lot of people think that hairless cats are all flesh colored since they have no fur, but a lot of hairless cats DO have color patterns.

Just check out a colorful female after she's been spayed; our new dilute calico was spayed a couple of weeks before we adopted her...and her bare belly still had the calico markings.

Your sure do, if they have markings around the head area part the fur a little, you can see the mottled effect on my cats skin

I have never actually shaved one but have clipped plenty of horses. With them you normally find that the areas of white hair have pink skin underneath and the dark hair has dark grey skin.

I know that big cats do, but I really dont know about house cats, I would think it would be the same. Why dont you get a cat if you dont have one and shave it and then let us know. jk.

Peace and Love your way.
