Stand very still for a moment and get a strained look on your face, then inform them matter-of-factly that you have just pooped your pants! They will probably leave at this point.
If you actually do poop your pants, it will work for sure.
(BTW, this also works on Jehovah's Witnesses)

Unfortunately, most door to door sales people are with multi-level marketing companies or cult - like religions. They get bamboozled into accepting the job with false promises and aren't really told too much how the job works. They get trained how too make some money and then have to work long hours to make what little money they can make. Turn over is high. The bosses keep putting out vague ads to keep hiring naive job applicants.
Don't support the system. Absolutely don't buy anything from them.
Treat the sales people respectfully. They have families and jobs. Wish them well. They are people just like you.
Call the proper authorities. However, be smart, don't let the sales people know that it is you that is reporting them. You don't need a rock in your window or worse. If this is in a high rise building, call the property manager and complain. If you are in a residential neighborhood, call the police and report them. Don't open the door if you are alone.
Putting a no soliciting sign on your door can help, but many reps are trained to ignore these signs.

Option 1. Remove the doors and wall in the openings! Very entertaining to watch them search for a door on the security cam!
Option 2. Get your own home based business (Mary Kay, Pampered Chef, etc). When a salesman comes to the door, talk to them about nothing other than your products!

Easy...If ur a shy type...dont answer the door or u can just answer the door say no and then shut the door. Or to be funny you can get ur shotgun hold it in ur hand pointing towards the person at the door then answer the door. If u really want to scare them do what i just said except look them straight in the eye and make up a story on what happend to the alst salesman who came to ur house and say that if they ever come again something bad will happen to them.
Or u can just repeat everything they say! Its fun they get soo mad! then they never ever ever ever come back

Well the best way is to get an intercom. That would put them right off. Personally I dont even listen to their patter-I ask them what the company is(with MY foot on the threshold)and then say Im not interested and shut the door. Other times I say Im renting and the landlord wouldnt want to know about their product. They usualy ask if Im the householder-I dont answer this-I say "why"? then they tell me what they are selling(Ive spoilt ther patter) then I say Im renting.I also have a peephole and if Im busy I just take a peep.

I installed a peephole!
And now if I don't know you then I don't answer the door. I have no windows near my door so they can't see me (and before the peephole I never knew who was at my door).
You can install a peephole even if you rent your home. If you get it done by a locksmith most landlords won't mind. I think it costs $25ish to get one done. It's the greatest thing ever!
I had some scary incidents at an old apartment so the moment I was here I installed the peephole.

My daughter works steady midnights so she sleeps all day. I printed off a small sign and taped to the window of my front door. No salespeople please. No solicitors. It does help. If you get someone that knocks after that, ask them can you read. Then you will get the supidest look from them.

tell the political people(all of them) that we will vote for them then no matter who is elected...we can ask favors
tell the magazine and book sellers that we use the library to save money

If I don't know or am not expecting you, I don't open my door. I work from home, and I find it annoying that people think that just because I'm at home, I'm not doing anything important.
