Circles are a natural movement for the hand to make.

From Creating Minds:

"Doodling lets your subconscious drive your hand. Drawing pictures gets away from words, which are left-brained and logical, and uses right-brained pictures to stimulate creativity.

It is also useful for people who are not so strong with verbal approaches."

As to why you only draw circles, you may be preoccupied with only one problem and feel, yes, like you are going in circles. Or you may not be allowing yourself to be creative enough to draw more freely when you doodle. I used to draw only interlocking curlicues, myself, until one day I just let go -- and drew an amazing dragon!! I thought I could not draw, but found I could when I just relaxed enough.

So, your mind may be prompting you to realize and express your own creativity more. Loosen up and see if something else comes through. Good luck!
