Ask her dad first - dad's like that.

Then get some flowers and a NICE ring (needs to have at least a 1/2 a carat) and get down on one knee. Girls like that

*Restaurants are often a very popular place to propose. Call beforehand, and get their advice on the best way to propose in their restaurant – perhaps the proposal is written out on a plate, or perhaps the waiter delivers the ring along with your entrees.

*Skywriting is an old-fashioned and romantic way to propose. You can both have an intimate and private marriage proposal, while still proclaiming your love to the world. Another alternative - get a plane to fly a banner with "Will you marry me,___" over your town.

*Take your sweetheart to the exact place where you had your first date. Reminisce a little, and then say something like "We've had an amazing journey together so far, and now I think we're ready to take the next step in that journey. I'm hoping you'll do me the honor of marrying me."

*A Christmas marriage proposal idea is to wrap the ring box inside successively bigger boxes so that your sweetheart will think the present is very large. As each layer is opened, the laughs will grow. Get down on one knee right as the last box is opened.

*Scavenger hunts are always an entertaining marriage proposal idea. Start off with a simple clue to someplace nearby, then get more complicated as the scavenger hunt progresses, and have the final location be a place where you can hide and then pop out and get down on one knee.

*Place sweet notes in different spots around the house. In each spot, write something that you love about your sweetheart, and where to find the next note. In the last note say "For all these reasons and more, I want to spend the rest of my life with you. Will you marry me?"

Here's just a few....just be creative!

Every woman enjoys that special proposal. You have to figure out what she would like and what would work for her. If she is a public person then she may enjoy being asked in a public place. If she is a private person then she will much rather something romantic and private. I'll give you the way my hubby proposed to me. I hope this helps.

He had ordered my ring off the internet. He told me that he had ordered some tools and when they came not to open it because he wanted to open it. So one day while we were at work the UPS man came. When I got home, I noticed the box sitting on the bench by our back door. I took the box inside and called him to let him know his tools had come in. When he came home I was in the bedroom hanging up clothes. He came in and opened the box. All of a sudden he yells, "****! They sent me the wrong thing." From the back of the house I ask what they sent him. He came into the room with the ring box open, got down on one knee and said, "They sent me this instead. Will you marry me?" I was totally floored. Tears welled up in my eyes and said yes.

We were married this past May and we are very happy.

Good luck!

My husband did not propose very creatively. However, I would have done this if I were a guy.

Do it close to Halloween. I think it would be cool to have the ring inside a pumpkin that says "will you marry me" carved into it. Or get candy that in boxes like Dots or Junior Mints. Empty the box, put in the ring. Make like you guys are eating the candy while watching a horror movie or something. Make sure SHE gets the right box. When she opens it propose. It would be totally unexpected.

How about you take her away for a weekend break, and during the weekend have a nice country walk and propose somewhere where there is no-one else around? I think that would be lovely. Restaurants always seem a no go because they are too public and doing it at home doesn't seem like you have made an effort.

GOOD LUCK! Hope it goes well :)

I had a friend make a personalized San Francisco Chronicle that he placed in the restaurant before hand. Later that night the waiter brought the paper to the woman during dinner. As she read the front page the headline said "Bob proposes to Jill at Steakhouse" He literally wrote out the whole date for the story on the paper. She loved it and it's framed at their house to this day.

My brother in law did it best! He took my sister to a romantic inn. They were having dinner and he handed her a box. In it was a photo album. The first part was pictures of all the things they did when they were in high school (they got back together after law school). He titled it "The past". The next section was titled "The present" with great pictures and sayings to go with the pictures of all the things that they had done the previous year. The last section was titled "The future", it had a business card of a jeweler on the last page and he handed her the ring at that point. VERY ROMANTIC AND EXTREMELY WELL DONE!

Yes.

Oh, wait, I'm guessing you wanted us to share what they were?

I'm not the romantic sort really, and I'd take a proposal from the right guy anywhere, anytime. But if you want to make it special, why not think about opportunities you have? Ring in a glass of special wine? Ask her during a horseback ride? "Find" the ring during scuba diving? I think it should tie in with something you both enjoy doing already or something very special that you share.

Something sweet, not an obnoxious blow-out like a jumbotron or skywriting.

You should refer to proposals from My Best Friend's Wedding and Stepmom.

Good luck!

Glen, I dont know how this works but I had an email sent to me that had invisible writing on it..It only appeared when you highlighted the area you were directed to hold your mouse over...
I would think that is perfect if your other half is into computers..
Maybe you can direct her to a website where you have asked the question in this manner...(She could be at work, home, with family or friends when you do this)....Good luck and I hope she says...YES...
