why do most of you support the death penelty for criminals (i never judge people) while taking a stand against abortion (even very early stage abortions)

how can you justify the murder of a fully grown thinking human being and at the same time screem that a tiny lifeless tissue that cant think should never be aborted?

(i dont mean to offend anyone but i like to have some answers based on compassion and commonsense)

Great question. Important issues.

Not all religious people support the death penalty, of course. Many are against it for the same reason they are against abortion: life is a precious gift that man has not the right to take away. Others see the death penalty as completely different than abortion because the former involves punishment for criminal acts committed by a person, whereas abortion is a "death penalty" for unborn fetuses that have committed no crime whatsoever.

I am a Humanist, myself, and believe strongly in the preciousness of life. I also believe in human justice. I am struggling within myself regarding capital punishment. I cannot say for sure whether it is moral or immoral.

Being Pro-Life is believing that ALL life is sacred. There should be no abortions and no death penalty. If you don't want the child, give him up for adoption. If taking onesome's life is justifiable by God then the death penalty is okay, this is killing. If you take the life of an innocent person this is murder and that's not justifiable by God.

How I see it from the people who are anti-abortion yet pro-death penalty is that an unborn baby is innocent. They have the right to breath air and live and grow up no matter what family it's is raised by. A murderer has lived and grew up knowing right from wrong and freely choose to murder. There are many murderers who will never change for the better and we don't want to have our hard earned money (taxes) be used to provide room and board, food, a bed, showers, exercise gym, etc. for these criminals. When they choose to take an innocent life they choose the option to go to prison for life or be killed legally. Please note that 'murdering' is different from 'killing'. Murdering is illegal and immoral. You are taking a life from an innocent person for no justifiable reason. Killing is done by authoritative people like judges or in the early years by the religious leaders who knew God's laws. In the Bible God ordered some of His choosen people to kill people that were pagans, idol worshipers, preaching blasphemy. When studying the ancient Hebrew and Aramic language, the Hebrew Bible states that the commandment from God to Moses says "Thoust shalt not murder", it doesn't say "Thou shall not kill." The real words are important to know. SO- there are times when God is okay for a human to kill another human. It is a sin to murder someone. Also, suicide is murdering oneself, making it a sin also.

When studying the Hebrew Bible and understanding the meaning of the real words that God gave Moses we can justify killing but not murderering. So there are times when the death penalty is okay. Abortion is never okay because it is murder. The unborn is innocent of everything. It never had the chance to commit a sin.

Since when is a baby "a tiny lifeless tissue"? Ask any breeder...when his prize mare is pregnant, she is carrying a foal...his prize heifer is carrying a calf...his prize b*tch is carrying pups...but his girlfriend is carrying "a tiny lifeless tissue"? I don't think so....
How can you justify allowing a fully grown thinking human being to carry out horrendous acts of rape and murder, etc, and allow him to continue to live to harm even more innocent people? Where is the compassion or common sense in that?
I don't necessarily "support the death penalty"...on the other hand, I can see why it is necessary. Ask anyone who has ever had a child kidnapped and murdered...

1. Most Christians do not support the death penality.
- I only support the death penality, if and only if there is a 100 percent know that you know the person did the killing of someone else.
- My stand agains abortions is if a person is killing another human being and they are not defending and can not defend themselves then this would be murder, I believe that you agree that if I am bigger than you and or your child and I pick on him and or you, you would say that I am a bully. At least I am something wrong in your view if I did that.

I believe that people who are bigger than the child who can not stand up for them selves are at least bullies, would you say so your self.

You are not offending me if you are really wanting to know what one christian of 90 million believes on this and other subjects

I am against the death penalty and abortion. Either way, we are taking matters into our own hands, instead of putting it in God's hands.

Psalm 139 talks about how God knew us even before we were conceived. Yes, abortion is wrong. It is murder. So is the death penalty.

Yes, you say that there was murder in the Old Testament (not in the New). You have to understand that the Old Testament was a different covenant than we have now.

Don't make the mistake of grouping all Christians in one mold. We are no better than non-Christians. We just know who to go for strength, comfort and forgiveness.

there is a huge difference between an unborn baby and a criminal who is up for the death penalty.

the baby did not choose to be created by parents who did not want him at that particular time, and does not deserve to be destroyed just because it's not convenient for the parents. I am not saying those parents have to take care of that baby - but they could certainly give it up for adoption. I have a cousin and a friend who gave babies up as teenagers and they have never regretted it.

the criminal has had choices to make in his life, and he has chosen to make some bad decisions, very bad ones, if he is up for the death penalty. i support the death penalty in cases that are so heinous that there needs to be a message sent to society that says "This will not be tolerated. If you do this you will die." I don't believe the death penalty should be taken lightly. But if you have violently killed people and are proven by DNA evidence to have done it without a doubt, there are certain cases that do deserve that punishment.

Most don't support the death penalty in Australia!! I for one don't.
Some times when i hear of a terrible crime i say execute them, but i don't fully mean it, it is just a way of getting rid of stress, I don't think anyone should be killed, but they should never get out of jail if the crime is bad, & I don't believe in killing unborn babies no matter what age because they are the makings of a human being & they have a right to live just like you!!

You have twisted views! With abortion, there is a heartbeat shortly after conception, and GEE, I dont know about you, but I was always taught that anything with a heart beat was a living thing, hmmmm.....? Theres an answer based on compassion.......

As for criminals who have commited hideous murder, why should we continue supporting them, while they sit in prison using all our $$$, building their muscles, taking college course, internet access, etc........ An eye for an eye!!

On an average, statistics have proven that it costs the tax payer, $33,000.00 per criminal, per year!!! (Theres an answer with tons of common sense)

I do support the death penalty.

But I would never ask for it to be carried out for anyone who wrongs me.

The reason I support the death penalty has nothing to do with religion. It has everything to do with a countries right to do what it thinks best for its people. To kill someone that has made a chose to kill someone else, is justice and it acts as a deterrent for others thinking about killing someone.

An Unborn baby is Innocent and deserves the right to be born.

Abortion was invented by God and is used every day to better the lives of all people, including the fetus. God himself uses abortion in miscarriage to correct the mistakes of the universe.
God also said not to kill. And God set the example with the fetus and with those he forgave on the cross. The prisoners should be forgiven and the fetus never dies because it was never alive. The prisoners should be held where they can do no harm and forced to work to better our world.
