Here at the high school where I teach, I believe that most of us make an honest effort not to curse in class, but even then, words still slip out, and I think the students know when it's an accident. They usually get a laugh out of it, and tease us about it, especially since most of us do not cuss in class regularily.

On the other hand, from listening to my kids talk, it would seem that there are other teachers in this building who do it all the time as habit, and they don't seem to care that they are TEACHERS.
There's a difference in how one talks outside of work, and how one talks at work... they need to realize this.

I don't curse in class, but then, unless I am VERY UPSET I don't usually curse anyway. I've probably used more swear words on this forum than I have in any one conversation recently!

Only in my college classes, a few swear words may have slipped out from a few of my professors. But I don't recall ever in grade school or high school. Teachers would probably get into too much trouble where I live. If kids start complaining to their parents, it can become a problem for the teachers.

Come to think of it, no they didn't. I will say however that when I was younger they had no problem using yard stick on you. So, to put it into perspective I would have been happy to deal with the swearing. ;)

nope and they would be fired for doing so...or at the very least be written up for a 1st offense and fired on the 2nd time.how can you teach them that swearing is not an acceptable way to speak if they hear you doing it.

NO, they should NOT be doing that. It's tacky and classless and unnecessary, and they should be reported. How are kids supposed to look up to them?
