My daughter had what looked like a cold sore and I put stuff on it, it went away after a fer days. Then suddenly she had a smaller sore next to where the bigger one was. That went away and now she has the start of a new one in the same general area, this has all been in about a two week period. Any ideas what it is and what to do about it.

It's probably a fever blister, which is caused by the herpes simplex virus. Many times they are brought to the surface by stress, sickness, etc. You might want to take her to the doctor just to be sure, but if it is a cold sore, your best bet is to keep it very moisterized. It can be quite painful if it gets dried out. Abreva tends to be expensive but works okay. Neosporin or vaseline is good too and it helps with moisterizing.

My friends daughter has this also. She's had it since she's been little. It seems like stress or nervousness causes these to pop up. Her doctor said it is a type of Herpes. I hope she doesn't have it her whole life. The doctor gives her cream for it and they go away. Other then that there really isn't much you can do about it. I hope this helped.

it could be a form of the herpes virus, cold sores appear every once in a while, i just recently got this from a friends lip balm, its very contagious so try not to pop it or pick at it. maybe try some abreva, it works well

could be a cold sore, but since she's so little, call her pedi, it could be a bacterial infection of some type... may actually need a topical antibiotic. good luck.

Abreava and keep those little hands washed and out of the mouth. It's amazing what's on those grocery cart handles and they always have their hand in their face.
