This has been my experience. Don't take it if you only have about 20 lbs or so to lose. You can do that with diet/exercise.

Due to some other health issues, I am not able to exercise that much. I need to lose 50 lbs because of these health problems. My doctor prescribed Phentermine with the following directions:
1. Phentermine every morning about 7 with breakfast. Must eat breakfast. (Good breakfast, not muffins, etc)
2. Drink tons of water. Phentermine makes mouth dry and breath gets bad if you don't drink a lot. If you feel hungry, drink large glass of water. If still hungry, then eat.
3. Phentermine 5 days on and 2 days off or it stops working.
4. Must be used with a sound diet. For me, he recommended NO sugar. Can have 2 fruit per day. Otherwise, balanced diet. Eat several small meals/day. Like every 3 hours eat a little.
5. Concentrate on slow weight loss. Because I can't exercise much, I have lost 23 pounds since June1. I do feel better though.
6. Check with your doctor and get instructions, not just a Rx. As you can see, the diet advice he gave me was as helpful as the medication.

Adipex-P, also known as phentermine hydrochloride is an amphetamine derivative used to suppress appetite while on a diet. Not too long ago this drug was included in the very popular weight loss stack known as Fen-Phen, that was later taken off the market. Phentermine is still widely available in the U.S. and is prescribed to obese patients for short term cycles of 3-4 weeks.

It is a schedule IV medication due to the addicting side effects of the drug, and also the tendency to overuse it. The drug's main benefit is for appetite suppression (which it does extremely well) by taking a typical dose of 18.75 mg (? of a tab) to 37.5 mg before your first meal in the morning.

Adipex-P also acts as a powerful stimulant and comes with the usual side-effects including, over stimulation, restlessness, insomnia, dizziness, headache, increased blood pressure, heart palpitations, dry mouth, etc. Adipex-P should be used cautiously starting with a small dose and gradually working up to a full tablet at the most. This drug should also only be used for 4-6 weeks, with an equal amount of time off.

The best way to loose weight is diet and excercise and a lot lot of cardio........

I just started taking phentermine 37.5mg. It's only been 6 days and I have lost a total of 6 pounds so far. Before I purchased the phentermine I did a lot of research. I learned that after about 3 months or so the product starts to wear off. At that point, you have to go off of it for about a month and then resume again. If you have taken it for less then 3 months and it has worn off already then maybe you need to change something else. Such as, if you're not currently working out you should start. If you already work out then you need to change your workout routine. Changing your workout routine is important because your body will adapt to your current routine and you will no longer get results. For instance, you should use one particular cardio machine (i.e. treadmill) for about 3 weeks and then switch to a different cardio machine (i.e. stair climber). While using a cardio machine you should change the intensity level throughout the workout session. Your weight training program should also be changed about 2-3 months in order to continue to stimulate your muscles. If none of this works then maybe you should up your dosage or try a new weight loss supplement. But, you may want to consult a doctor before you up your dosage. As far as ephedrine, as mentioned above, it does work extremely well. I used ephedrine back in the year 2000 before it was banned in the US and lost a ton of weight. However, the reason it was banned it because it has been proven to be associated with deaths. As great as it works, for me it's just not worth the risk. However, this is a personal choice. If you decide to try ephedrine please note, because it's banned in the US you would have to order it over seas, which means you won't be sure exactly what you're truly getting. Beware; it may contain even more dangerous additives to the ephedrine. Not trying to scare you, but it's a fact. Hope this was helpful. Good luck!!!

I am not sure about phentermine alone, but when the phen-fen was on the market, I lost a lot of weight with that. I would take phentermine in a heartbeat if my doctor said it was ok. Usually side effects from medications will go away within a week, but if you are experiencing severe or uncomfortable side effects, you should call your doctor immediately.
Good Luck!

dont try that. Otherwise? My ideas? Try to do 200 minutes of cardio a week. Remember fat does not turn into muscle, so you need to lose your fat while putting on muscle. Work hard, but don't over 60 minutes at a time. Do planks and other abs exercises on alternate days.

On training days, do 5-10 minutes of cardio to warm up, then do your weight training. Do 30 to 60 minutes more of cardio, then go home.

The best time to eat is just after your workout within an hour when your metabolism is raging. For your muscles, incorporate some isolated soy protein or whey protein. Whey is more potent but the soy tastes better!

Don't look at your scale as the be all and end all, but get a measuring tape to check your progress, and that will show more tangible results.

Read magazines like Shape, Womens Fitness, Fitness, etc to get tips and to stay motivated.

Good luck and stick at it. This plan has lost me 20 lbs in 12 weeks so far, just go for it!

You are able to loose how much your body needs to loose. In the first month, I lost almost 20 lbs. However, it is meant to help train your body and brain. You should only take it for a month at a time and then take a month off in between. This drug will cause you to lose your appetite so you learn that you need to eat less. It will also make you thirsty, so you drink more water, as you should. However, it will also keep you up at night which is not a good thing becuase you need sleep. But, try just keeping track of how much you are eating of what and drink more liquids. No matter what drug you try, you should be cutting back on the amount of food that you eat and the types of food that you eat. The drug only works for the day that you take it until the next morning. Yet, this drug can become addictive, so be careful with it.

I've tried many diets and couldn't make anything work. Since having my first child, I've been carrying around an extra 30 pounds. This diet just made sense and showed me that everything I was doing before was wrong and a waste of my time.

The plan was so refreshing and so simple to follow. I did everything plan said and lost 23 pounds in the first three weeks. I'm now starting the diet again to lose 7 more pounds. This plan has changed my life.

Get started today!

I have arthritis in knee and went to doctor to ask how much weight I need to lose to be healthier and in less pain. She informed me that according to my height, age, sex and frame size I was actually considered obese. Wow that was a wake up call. We discussed changing my diet as in no more junk, If it didn't grow on the vine or on a tree it's most likely not good for you. Then portion control, eat on a small plate and no seconds, drink water and cut out any sugary drinks including most juices. Last and most importantly exercise. I was doing palates but that was low impact and for the purpose of strengthening my muscles around my knee as well as flexibility and range of motion. So until I added cardio I saw very little results. Find a cardio you can stick with. For me it's walking or bike riding. Last she put me on Phentermine to add me in my efforts and I visit with her monthly to discuss progress, any side effects, concerns and long term goals. The first month I dropped 13lbs. Then it slowed down after that but my exercise efforts increased. In five months I've gone from a size 16 pants to a size 8. I have more energy, flexibility, stamina, sleep better, better mood, and I've lost so far a total of 48lbs. So hang in there, don't give up. If you notice your weight loss slows down or stops all together then change up your exercise routine regularly this is important as your body will adjust itself to the exercise routine and amount of calories you taking in. Don't just lose weight as you can be at your goal weight and still be unhealthy. Without muscle you could weigh less but be mostly fat still. Our bodies are designed to be in motion not sit on the couch. Use it or lose it. I enjoy exercising now and love the fact people around me tell me how great, awesome even beautiful I look. I notice men checking me out who before didn't. All new wardrobe as well. It's worth it to lose weight and not have to take meds for diabetes, high blood pressure and lower your risk for certain cancers breast cancer being one of them. I had Breast Cancer five years ago and being overweight could have been a factor. Good luck, don't give up!
