There is this girl that I have been friends with for years. We have become rather close lately. We were emailing and calling each other on the phone (with excuses). We also talk a lot alone! Last night I said I needed to ask her a few questions after she called me over. She was like 'ok' then continued to talk to her friend. I talked to her brother in the meantime, and she cut into the conversation like maybe she wanted to talk. She then told her brother it was time to go and left without saying goodbye for the first time ever. Did she freak out? I do not think she likes being confronted, but I am actually really, really sure she likes me. Why would she do that?

Maybe the timing wasn't there. If you want to have a one on one convo with her then take her aside. Make sure it's just you and her.

Sounds like a case of the nerves. Which were amplified by the fact that she was in front of friends and her brother. She might have felt like you were going to ask her out or something and is shy around others. Perhaps the next time you approach her choose your words differently if others are around. don't make her feel like she is under a spot light and maybe ask the personal, serious questions while you are alone or on telephone. Keep in mind a lot of people tend to be more open and honest when you are at distance...ie phone, text, email rather than face to face.

Maybe she is keeping a secret from you something about her family she does not want you to know . Need more info how old is she? How old are you? could be that something is bothering her and she does not feel like talking to you about it. Maybe if you could get her by herself she would explain to you what was going on . dont push too hard though you might lose a friend in the process. Just give it some time she might come around. Hope this helps Good Luck.

She may have gotten nervous. That's not uncommon.
I wouldn't read too much into it. The next time you talk to her, ask her why she left in such a hurry.
