A black skirt is absolutely appropriate! I wore one to a wedding in June (a long black skirt, evening wedding) and I was one of MANY people wearing a black skirt. So I don't think there is anything wrong with that.
Light colors, dark colors.. it does not matter. Since it is late Sept. I would probably lean towards the darker side (and it's evening) but, really, all those rules are pretty much out the window. Wear something you feel beautiful and confident in because then you will look and feel great!

You can really wear any color you want. A black skirt would be fine, I'd just lighten it up a bit with the right blouse or sweater, whatever goes with it. If you've gained a few lbs., then I'd go with what you feel good in. We had a wedding to go to a few months ago and I just had a baby and I couldn't find anything to wear and finally decided we'd do something else instead. Maybe somewhat rude, but I just couldn't deal with sitting there during the wedding and then the reception and dance feeling fat all night.

A black skirt is fine for a 4pm wedding. You could wear a black top and that would be very slimming. Dress it up with some silver jewelry, necklace earrings, etc. A nice upswept hairdo would be pretty. High heels too. Elongates the leg.
Keep it simple and classy. Use the jewelry to dress it up.
Gained some weight myself. Been there done that with ripping my closet apart.
I am sure you will look beautiful.

Your black skirt should be okay, but wear it with a light colored top. Depending on what time the wedding is depends on whether or not it's casual, semi-formal or formal. Find a dressy top - something really pretty & lacy maybe - wear that with the black skirt, hose & heels. Since Fall is officially here, you can't go to a function in bare legs & flip-flops or sandals now. Worst comes to worst - go shopping & find something new that really appeals to you!!! Have fun & enjoy the wedding!!

wear what you feel good in. Feel good=look good. The colors depend on the place and theme and dress code of the wedding. If it is in the evening or at night a black skirt is totally fine. White is the only thing inappropriate.

I think your black skirt would be lovely for a wedding with some strappy sandals. I would just choose a colorful top, perhaps in fall colors. Almost anything goes with black. Have a fun time.

Usually anything is ok as long as you don't try out dressing the "bride".
If it's a large wedding, I'd think more formal would be the way to go, but if it's small, all the small ones I attend, anything goes.
Black is fine!! There are alot of balck and white weddings!
Just clean up, look your best, and you won't worry about it once you look in the mirror the last time on your way out! :-)

get something classy being september there are alot of nice autumn (fall) clothes you can buy...if you want to go sleeveless at least buy a nice lace or chiffon shawl to keep the chill away...then later in the night you can wear it around your neck and stay cool in the heat from the disco lights....go for something not too heavy...maybe a nice pair of lightweight trousers and a silk top to match, a shawl is also complimenting, pick the right colour that matches the outfit
