A lot of communication is done non-verbally. People in general find it easier to mesh with and trust those who they can 'read' the body language. When races are raised separately, they have trouble trusting each other. Blacks and whites are friendlier to those of the same color as the people with whom they are familiar.
Most people eventually overlook color differences, it just takes longer to become friendly.
Black males have an innate tendency to choose lighter skinned females because it indicates they have a higher level of vitamin D, which is necessary for the fetus and growing child.
Women of all races have an innate tendency to respond more positively to darker males when they are in estrus. So, with enough effort, a Black man has a very good chance of becoming friendly with a White woman.

Denzel is so hot!!! My husband is darker than Denzel. I will say that about 6 years ago, I moved to the middle of Iowa which is not very well diversified. I had just come from the military life of 20 years. I missed the different ethnicities. I recently moved to Georgia where there is a more diversified amount of races.

I would not have Naomi Campbell as a friend as she's a witch!!
The colour of skin shouldn't matter in this day and age but it does. I myself am light skinned and have experienced badness from both the black and white communities.
I must add that I find white people more acceptable towards me then black people, so perhaps your theory is right even though a little sad.

I myself do not interracial date...my preference. Although I have to admit that the very very dark skin blacks are so dark....the lighter skinned ones just seem more like the white skin we have...
as a young girl, my best friend was the only black girl in the class, and she was as dark as they come...I miss Sharon...my friend. I also have many black friends...all different shades....
It's just something that those deep black skinned have to deal with as well as being black alone....
Someday all these different colors of black and whites will be combined to a lovely skin that even though is much like another persons, there will always be haters.....not matter what.
take care

There are more asian people. Anyway... I don't think it matters how dark someone's skin is! I think girls with really dark skin are stunnning!

I posted this to someone elses question that later turned out to be a hoax, but I think it will be of good use here.
Im sure [some mulattos] ... have experienced racism from either end but if particularly from black people, chances are it was from those who still feel 'oppressed' in some way (whether justified or not). While they may dislike the power associated with some white people they still feel that they may be able to benefit from the beloved light skin. And anyone who dawns this skin may bring them to a higher social status.
Most people who fit this category clench to the myth that lighter skin blacks are treated better by other races. In my opinion the only people who hold fairer skin blacks superior to other blacks are blacks themselves.
The argument is generally that white people are more accepting to those blacks lighter in hue. This is usually uttered before inappropriately and often unfairly slapping a 'racist' label on a person.
What they fail to realize is that true white racists could care less what 'shade' you are, if your skin is tinted (or even have proven ancestry) then they have no regard for you or your feelings. On the other hand, normal white people are generally as baffled about skin shade as other races are about hair/eye color (in regards to those whites who place blonde/blues on pedestals over red/greens etc...)
I think that the sooner that black people begin to accept one another (from lightest to darkest hue) the sooner you will notice a definitive positive change and the stereotypes can finally begin to get mashed out. It has to start somewhere, from all sides. Because it would truly be a shame and a waste if in 3030 the world is still as racist and unforgiving as it is now....
Source(s): Being black, being open to dating interacially and dealing with prejudice from whites and blacks because of it...
Now I would like to add that perhaps it is this message being sent around the black community that makes them defensive and therefore sends out a 'dont approach me' vibe to white people, whereas the lighter skinned ones (who no doubt have been mistreated by jealous ones) might feel more accepted and send out a 'be my friend' vibe and so both people decide based on their experiences that this is the way it is. I think there will be some who do it and some who don't but it does depend on how you present yourself to a person. First impressions do count in 95% of the things we do.
Another thing is that I'm sure that the people who are admitting to this belief are most likely picturing the unattractive, possibly rude, darker black person they saw misbehaving in a store, not the beautiful darker person who let them over in busy traffic or flagged them down when they dropped their wallet. Negative imagery sticks with people stronger, its human nature unfortunately. So they are grouping all dark skinned people with the face and attitude of the negative people and lumping all who resemble by color unnattractive.
Do I think light skin blacks are treated differently? I think positive attitude gets positive results from other people. If a person believes they won't be accepted, then they WONT be accepted and vice versa.
I will admit though that there is this black woman that I know who has very caucasian features to the point where her shadow or silhouette would fool you! Genetics I guess. But she is black and has dark skin and extremely kind. I have witnessed her being blatantly mistreated on occasion simply because of her color. So yes some people really only see skin color and you'll see it evident in those who harrass yahoo users with dark skinned avatars regardless of what race the person posting REALLY is.
But for the most part most people have evolved and are not as hateful as their forefathers, this includes all races.

I'm white and I wouldn't say that I can't stand dark black people, never thought I about it really. I like Halle and Denzel, why? And I like other dark things too, this is just stupid to be thinking like this.

Personally to me, the skin colour doesn't make any difference.
But unfortunately there are people who really do think that way (or are influenced by it without even realising)
My advice is: don't worry about it. There are always going to be people who make judgment for one stupid reason or another and we just have to ignore them the best we can.

Big B is right, its nothing to do with race just the beauty factor. For example I like find guys with blonde hair attractive, but I wouldn't find one with such blonde hair that its almost white!
Also alot of girls go out with black guys because they think it will get them in with a certain 'crowd' and earn them respect.

That all depends on the individual. You'll only get a small percentage of answers on here. And not enough answers to sum all up white people.
