Joseph Smith boasted that he did more than Jesus to keep a church together.
"God is in the still small voice. In all these affidavits, indictments, it is all of the devil--all corruption. Come on! ye prosecutors! ye false swearers! All hell, boil over! Ye burning mountains, roll down your lava! for I will come out on the top at last. I have more to boast of than ever any man had. I am the only man that has ever been able to keep a whole church together since the days of Adam. A large majority of the whole have stood by me. Neither Paul, John, Peter, nor Jesus ever did it. I boast that no man ever did such a work as I. The followers of Jesus ran away from Him; but the Latter-day Saints never ran away from me yet . . " (History of the Church, Vol. 6, p. 408-409).
Joseph Smith is DEAD JESUS LIVES. can a dead man help his church
Bible says
Mt 16:18 And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it.

Joseph Smith said that there are men living on the moon who dress like Quakers and live to be nearly 1000 years old. Since he was wrong about the moon, is it safe to trust him regarding the way to Heaven? (The Young Woman's Journal, Vol. 3, pages 263-264. See reprint in Mormonism -- Shadow or Reality? by Jerald and Sandra Tanner, page 4.)
Joseph Smith made a false prophecy (one of several).
". . .I prophesy in the name of the Lord God of Israel, unless the United States redress the wrongs committed upon the Saints in the state of Missouri and punish the crimes committed by her officers that in a few years the government will be utterly overthrown and wasted, and there will not be so much as a potsherd left . . . " (History of the Church, Vol. 5, p. 394.)

Dt 18:20 But a prophet who presumes to speak in my name anything I have not commanded him to say, or a prophet who speaks in the name of other gods, must be put to death."
Dt 18:21 You may say to yourselves, "How can we know when a message has not been spoken by the LORD?"
Dt 18:22 If what a prophet proclaims in the name of the LORD does not take place or come true, that is a message the LORD has not spoken. That prophet has spoken presumptuously. Do not be afraid of him.

Mybe you should focus on living your religion and let others live theirs...
Ever wonder why so many so-called "Christians" are constantly attacking the Mormon church any way they can?
Satan is laughing and applauding so-called "Christians", sorry.
Also, Joseph has a point. Didn't one of Christ's diciples hand him over for money? Think about it. Joseph is not saying at all that he is greater than the Lord or ever would be. You are reading into that quote and many others however you want. Above me has a point to, Joseph went through so much persecution and he was chosen before this world began to be the one who would restore the gospel to the earth for the last time.

You are comparing apples to oranges.
It always makes me wonder when I see these anti-Mormon rants. They pull up the most obscure references and take them out of context, then put them out as Mormon gospel.
The Mormon church is actually The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. It is Christ's restored gospel for all mankind living in these times. The Church does believe in Christ, and we do believe that Christ suffered the atonement for all of us. We are not a non-Christ believing cult. If anything, we are the exact opposite. Christ is at the helm of our church, we end our prayers in the name of Jesus Christ, and we strive to live our lives as Christ did.
As far as Joseph Smith's 'boasting' (which he did very infrequently) It did take an almost impossible effort to pull the whole Church together, and against enormous adversity, so I think he has a reason to boast.

I am Mormon and you can not compare Joseph Smith to Jesus. Jesus Christ is the head of or church and he is who we worship, not Joseph. I will not go to an anti mormon websight to find out about the mormon religion. That's like going to a Nazi webight to learn about the Jews.
Oh, and KJelstad, the first words written about Jesus Christ were not 200 years after his death, they were written by Matthew within 30 years. Matthew knew Jesus and was there when he was crucified.

Once again we have ppl debating which dead guy is right, if Jesus even actually existed. But that's not really the point for me. From my "nonbeliever" perspective, the Mormons walk their talk, most xtians do not. They are both man-made religions...so what does it matter.

Look, your obviously a bit of hater in this matter, and not really worth my time.
But for what ever sliver it may be worth, we honor Joseph Smith as a Prophet, and Jesus as our Savior and Redeemer. We know the difference, and so did he.
best wishes.

Joseph Smith was a false prophet that formed a false teaching. The Mormons are good people but they are in error. They have a form of godliness but deny God's power (in Jesus). Jesus is not Christ to them, which renders them a cult. Any teaching that does not teach Christ has come in the flesh falls into that category.

No, they are both dead. Well, if Jesus ever really existed. Everything written about him came 200 years late.
