Yes in many ways this is easier, as the paperwork involved in foriegn marriages can be very off putting. Many churches look at civil marriages as not being "proper" and will happily hold a full ceremony for you abroad, others might only allow a formal blessing. However either way you could have the big white wedding abroad and sort the paperwork at home. As long as you are open about the situation I cannot see many problems. This way the pressure will also be off as you will have less to worry about as the legal bit is already sorted. Good Luck!

Yes. The registry office wedding gives you a civil marriage legal anywhere in the world. A Church wedding is a ceremony before God and witnesses. You will need to take your marriage certificate abroad with you so that (in some countries) you will not sign the civil register of that country as well! In those countries, as in C of E churches, the religious and civil ceremonies are combined.

Yes, my friend had a registry office wedding here and a Church wedding in her husbands country.

Just make sure you check with the country abroad what papers you have to take with you when applying to marry there.

Yes absolutely - I got Married in Austria (my home country) in a registry office and then went to Hawaii and got married (with the real ceremony and everything...) there! You need to take the certificate and of course passports etc. but you can also get more information from the embassy of the country you want to have your cm in! Good luck!

Of course you can. Marriage at the Registry Office is for the legal drawing of the marriage contract while the church marriage is the religious ceremony whose conclusion does not have any legal implications.

Yes, you can be married as many times as you like in a lot of countries... a long as it's to the same person of course!
You may also like to consider having the marriage blessed in a church!

Only if you get divorced / widowed inbetween.

Most countries recognise the marriage certificates of others & so once you are married you are married.

You can have a religious blessing though. But its entirely different to a wedding.
