The Print Screen button (usually towards the right on the top row of your keyboard) will copy a bitmap of your entire screen to the clipboard. You can then paste it anywhere you need to. I usually use MS Paint. If you use Alt+Print Screen, it will only copy the active window.

If you look at your keyboard lower left corner there is a key that shows (fn). You press that down at the same time with the button on the top row of your keyboard that says (prt sc). Then you open Word, notepad, or paint. I generally open word and then right click your mouse, then select paste. The picture of your screen will appear.
