Is this true, it seems to me that you are against believing in something with no evidence whatsoever. If that is so, I too believe that:

"Believe nothing.
No matter where you read it,
Or who said it,
Even if I have said it,
Unless it agrees with your own reason
And your own common sense"
- Buddha -

Thank you for informing me

Actually, Tom, that is perfect. Buddhism is an agnostic religion and we acknowledge no higher power until its existence is proven. We do not worship Buddha, he was a great man and a great teacher, but was in no way divine.

Atheists are AGAINST '______________' (just fill in the blank). That's what I see on this forum. And again I must agree with the wisdom of Buddha.

It's true that religion has wisdom within it, but we'd want the wisdom without the faith.

Athiests are faithless to the Buddha, to any supposed Deity. Does a faithless personality to you seem like a good recruit for Buddhism?

You come out with some interesting stuff.. let me read these books I just got and I'll come and get back to ya.

I've always welcomed sincere intellectual discourse. Recently someone posted and commented about how they had looked at the facts and come to the Christian conclusion. While I did not agree, I honored his choice because he arrived at the decision by logic based on the best information and experience he had -- all any of us can do.

I was ashamed to be an atheist that day because of all the hate that poured out from the atheists that day, and I said so, bluntly.

Critical thinking, like evolution, doesn't have a goal. It simply develops along its own course, wandering wherever its flowing tides take it.

Even reason and common sense can deceive. The world rarely is exactly how we expect it to be. Believe only that which is backed by observations that you or anybody else on the planet can independently verify. Don't believe your own visions, don't believe other people's visions. Don't believe scientific "studies" until many other scientists have checked the data.

Skepticism is good for you.

I'm against the following:

1. Using your blind faith to promote homophobia or other forms of discrimination.
2. Using your blind faith to engage in mass-murder.
3. Using your blind faith to disrupt medical advancement and scientific education.
4. Using your bling faith to justify invading foreign countries.

Actually I don't give a toss about blind faith. I just care what people do with that blind faith.

The prefix "a" means without, not "against."

Atheists aren't against or in opposition to anything based on atheism.

Atheism is the acknowledgment that theists have never proven their claims. If there were no theists, there would be no atheists.

Or, if a theist proved his claim there would be no atheists.

you wrote this in my question as well. personally i am against all the bloodshed and " competitions" going on between different religions. also history plays a big part in it, all that the christians did over the centuries is dreadful, and the way they forced other cutures to convert to theirs or die( see the druids in england during roman empire invasion), meddling with history to change all facts to their favour and liking...it is dreadful. also, what gets to me is that they all follow like cattle, whatever one says that is truth, and questioning it is heresy...oh please! no freedom of mind and speech! question the way you are living your life i say, be curious, explore!!live, do not sit back and think is that a sin?oh my, i'll burn in hell...nooo!!!! live and be happy . it is all based on fear. i cannot stand that, love is all we need, and to respect mother nature, as that is what gives us life, treasure our worls, not some unfounded allegations.

Yes. In other words, we do not believe in something until we truly experience it for ourselves, or become satisfied with the responses we have been given/provided with.

I believe atheists are against the belief of a supreme power. Love itself is blind faith, if you love someone you're making a leap of faith that they will love you back, but people cheat and people lie and people do worse, none of which is love. Faith is blind because it's personal, no one can argue your favorite color, doesn't make that particular color moot.

No, the lack of simple logic is just as appalling as the belief in imaginary beings.
