I'm just curious to know if anyone here is using low sodium salt.

Is this really recommended by doctors?
Or is this recommended only to those who have certain diseases?
Is this really more healthy than the normal salt?
Is it less salty?

Normally this salt is prescribed to people who are having a kidney disease and this is not advisable to normal people. The malady of civilization has brought not only advantages but disadvatages resulting in mis information and wrong usage of new and hitech products which are not really necessary and sometimes more harmful than the original ones.

I use it and I don't have any health issues. It tastes that same to me and "they" claim it is better for you than regular salt. Wikipedia reports that salt can exacerbate the following:
exercise-induced asthma
heartburn
osteoporosis
Gastric cancer
hypertension
heart disease and stroke
hypernatremia
renal disease

But not having enough sodium in your diet can be harmful too! The key is balance.
Hope this helps

I have used it for a member of the family who has to have less salt in their diet owing to blood pressure. Thus it is stated in the following article:

A low-salt diet is beneficial for certain people with cardiovascular disease. Preliminary evidence has linked salt consumption with increased cardiovascular disease incidence and death among overweight people. Low-salt diets seem to be especially important for people with hypertension (high blood pressure). Salt intake has been definitively linked to hypertension in Western societies, and eliminating salt from the diet lowers blood pressure in most people.
