I'm sorry you have to deal w/ that rude co-worker. I have actually heard of girls as old as 6 in very rare circumstances still wearing diapers. I have friends who have fallen all over the potty training board. From training at around 2 to as old as 5. Potty training is really quite silly. It should be your daughter's choice. Let her wear diapers as long as she wants. If she's 5 and still in a diaper then push her. Just don't worry about it right now. She's only a baby once. I had a friend who just potty trained her daughter at 5 a couple months ago. The whole training was easy, because she was actually ready. Your daughter will undoubtedly have a closer bond to you, than your co-worker will have w/ hers if you just keep the previous in mind. Good luck!

don't listen to her,!!!!
i have 4 children 2 girls and 2 boys. I start potty training when they can tell you they are wet or poopy, For my boys it was about 2 and for my girls, well the oldest it was almost 3 and for my youngest she is 3 now, and she would take her diaper off and go get a new one for me to put back on, so it was time, she was about 2 1/2. You need to wait until they can understand being wet and dry. Don't let anyone push you into this. Every child is different. and some don't like potty chairs and some won't go on a big toilet, so kind of keep your options open to what your little girl wants, and what she needs, And only you can decide that your her mom]
good luck

12 months? I can't see that being true. Kids can only be potty trained when they are ready. Doctors say not to even try before the age of 2. The average time when kids are ready is usually between 2 and 3.

I started my daughter at 2, and she caught on fairly quick. I just sat a potty in the bathroom close to the toilet and every time I went, I would take her and put her on the potty too. Sometimes she would go and sometimes not. I don't know if you have tried this, I'm sure you probably have, but just give her plenty of time and lots of praise when she does go. It may take a little while, but she will catch on. Don't worry about what other people say is right, just do what is right for you and your daughter! That's all that really matters!!!

Girls generally do learn quicker than boys, but I think you will have to wait until she is 3. This is much more realistic! I have a hard time believing that her 12 month old is really potty trained. We are talking about a baby being able to go without mistakes and being able to wipe itself. Potty training takes a while. First they have to learn WHEN it is time to go. Then They have to learn HOW to go on the potty, like wiping right. My son was 4 when He did all of it completely right. Most Important is to be Patient with the child. Any kind of frustration will cause problems for them. Always , Always praise them each time they make it to the potty on time. Best of luck!!

every child is different. I have 2 boy and 1 girls. Myoldest son and daugher just pretty much trained by 2 1/2. My youngest son it was almost 4. My friends daughter didnt want to try until 3. You can introduce her to the potty and all, I had 2 kids that were easy and difficult one. For my easy ones it was letting them pick out underwear. When they figured out how much better they were compared to diapers. Good luck she will know when she is ready

Oh no, not one of THOSE people.... My daughter is the best. I worked with one of those-drove me crazy. My oldest daughter was potty trained at 2, my youngest--well, let's just say it's still a struggle and she's 3. Ignore your coworker from now on. Don't listen to her because she obviously thinks she knows everything. Don't let her make you feel as if you are not raising your child the right way. YOU are your little girls Mommy, not her-- Thank God.

12 months old? Good luck to them. You need to be a stay at home mom to work on potty training that early. I'd say between 2-3 years old. My daughter was 3 months from her 3rd birthday when she was fully trained. I took a week off of work and worked with training her. She got interested in it also because of seeing her friends at daycare starting to use the potty.
Good luck.

Twelve months seems very early. My daughter was 18 months old, and my son was 2 years old. I think every child is different, and you shouldn't let that other mom make you feel as though you're doing something wrong.
If you push her, it will make her anxious, therefore, more difficult to go potty. Just talk to her, and gently guide her into it when she's ready.
