In Genesis, Chapter 11 we find that the ancient fight for power and property appears to be based on which side we believe God takes. Since we profess that the creator is a god of love, does it make sense for "him" to favor only a chosen few, whoever they are? After all, we're all god's kids; aren't we? If so, why pick one group over another, and do we believe that god actually did so? And if we hold that god mandated favoritism, does it give us the right to kill in order to comply with his edict? Engage your sense of reason please before you answer.

I don't find it ironic, but it certainly is tragic. I'm not sure which is more tragic though, the senseless death of half a million people, or the mental enslavement by religion of almost all of mankind for all of recorded history.

This world is not going to survive the nuclear age if people continue to cling to ancient superstitions that pit eachother against one another even in times of plenty.

We must trust in ourselves and fellow human beings! We are not living back in the time of Moses, we are living in a modern time full of challenges that did not exist during the historical era that the Bible reveals. If God does exist then it clear that he is watching over us in such a way to see if we can discover medicine for diseases, stop poverty, stop war. If we are all decendents of Abraham, then anthropology has no ground? When I ask a Muslim why they hate Jews I do not get a clear answer. When I ask a Jew why they hate Muslims...I still do not get a clear answer; and when I ask a Christian I get a hundred different answers. I think that we can be close to God without choosing a religion, or an idealology that if we do this and that we go to heaven, and if we do this and that we could go to hell. We are a product of the path of life we take, and we ourselves are the only ones that can lead us to the life we want. Everyone of age knows what is right and what is wrong, it does not take religion to teach us that...it is a natural feeling inside, and the ones that do not trust their feelings become criminals, terrorist, child molesters, etc., etc. God for allot of people is faith. And man and women require faith. But faith should be in ourselves, to make mistakes, pick our selves up, and continue in life not making the same mistakes. I don't believe religion is the cause of war, but I believe people hide behind religion to be at war. War is easy....to make peace and live in a world without war is a challenge, and as humans we should strive to meet challenges not kill each other in war.

Religion is of course the basis of conflict in the Middle East.

Unfortunately, these beliefs are strong in the people on all sides and are not likely to go away.

Basing political decisions on religious texts is and should be viewed as ludicrous, but it is the way things have been done from the beginning of time. It apparently is human nature to hate those who are not us and do not believe as we do.

I find it understandable, not tragic nor ironic. There are many curses heaped on so-called unbelievers, idolators, sexual perverts, doubting Thomases in the Bible. These curses are merely coming to pass.

Moreover, the conflict between Israel and the Arabs originated from the Sarah/Isaac and Hagar/Ishmael jealousy-induced outcome of Abraham's experimentation in the laboratory of barreness. Note that Sarah and Hagar were of the Israeli and Arabian(Egyptian) descents, respectively.

you are quoting the Old Testament. Most of that is now for learning for when Jesus was here He camt to fulfill the law. If you want tosee reference to the wars and rumoe of wars going on now try reading Ezekiel. It had alot of information. And as far the Bible being responsible No it is man and there desires that lead to wars not the Lord. Loving the lord is peaceful and contentment but God knew that in dealing with man man would want to be able to crow about being bigger and badder and therfore we have wars and ruor of wars. It is interesting how peole try to lay th eblamr on God when it is human desire that causes the woes. Gosd still loves us all.

First came the Neanderthal man, then the Cromagnum man and then the Homosapian man. They built towns and villages, although they were descendants of animals (Apes).
Because God created animals first.
Then God created Adam and Eve, who are the original people, since they didn't evolve from apes.
And The apes and people have been fighting ever since.

This is the exact reason I don't pick one religion over another. I f one of them is right then all the rest of them have to be wrong. This proves religion is man made and followed to their own ideas!

NOPE!!
In fact, I believe that revelations, Ezekiel, and other books give an excellent account on what has happened, and what will.
