Do you believe the world would be better of without religion, or that some, (Ba'hai, Jainism, Buddhism, Confucianism) who's followers are almost all peaceful and try to make the world a better place, should remain. Some of these religions are even atheistic (Confucianism) or agnostic (Buddhism). What do you think?
Thank you for your thoughts!

I think it would be a better place if people kept religion to themselves.

I don't think that the world would necessarily be a better place without religion because alot of people need that extra something to hold on to. The issue isn't so much that religion isn't peacefull its the people who commit the bad acts who corrupt the idea of religion. Religion itself in all forms can be peacefull and most of them started out that way. Me personally don't follow any religion and im happy that way. But some people really need it...its kind of like a comfort zone...a place you can turn to whether its real or not..it just makes some people feel better.

Generally, I believe that religion is primarily a negative thing as it tends to stifle independent thought and self-exploration. Having said that I've read up on most major religions and do find some more 'acceptable' to my way of thinking than others. I don't even have a problem with people believing in God; it's just what people do with that belief that matters to me.
I would be happier if there were no religions in the world, but shy of that I'd settle just for no religious extremism.
And a Buddhist extremist (they exist) is just as undesirable to me as an Abrahamic extremist.

I think the world would be better off without Christianity and Islam.
I mean no offense, but in my eyes these two religions are downright obnoxious.
The other religions are OK in my book. Their followers are generally peaceful, accepting, and openminded. At least that is the opinion I've formed from the questions they've asked and the answers they've given.

Buddhism originally was not about god, but it has become just as silly and superstitious as the rest. I prefer to just ignore them. They are not going to go away, they are far to profitable. Most of the early forms tried to teach people how to get along together without killing each other off. that is the basis for things like the rules about thievery, lying, adultery and such. also why christians are supposed to turn the other cheek if they are insulted.(at least once), but this religion also has been perverted into a tool for hatred and political manipulation and it has been for 1900 years.

Definately, war nowadays are caused by religion, barbaric killings in the past and present are fueled by religion
Witch hunting, crusades, jihad are all caused by religion
Burning, beheading, sucide bombing, mass slaugther all come under religions such as christianity, islam two main haters
Buddhism should remain and peaceful religions who dont have the urge to kill to spread there religion or get offended by a small insult

Definitely. Religions teach people to create a guideline for their actions based on something that does not exist. People should take responsibility for themselves, and act in the good of humanity.

The ones that you mention seem to be harmless, and may be good for humanity in that meditation can be calming. Honestly, I don't know enough about them to make a definitive statement, but I am trying to be open minded.
