I have this severe itch that has lasted a few months off and on which starts at the top of my head and goes to my feet. I see no rash except I do see some little red dots or little red bumps in the palms of my hands.Sometimes I feel as though something is crawling on me or sometimes I feel as though I cannot keep my arms and legs still. I cannot sleep because of this. It is worse at night but I do occassionally have it during the day (like right now). it's the kind of itch that you scratch but cannot ever relieve. I have tried everything.....creams, moisterizers...bath and body stuff....sometimes it helps and sometimes it makes it worse. I also itch up my butt and up my front ears..everywere. The itching feels like a prickley itch and feels like i have a very mild sunburn. I just don't know what to do about this or even what this is. I just know that I need to get some sleep! Please help me.it gets so much worse after drinking alcohol,i have had liver tested & it's fine! help please!!!

Well my friend, I don't know if you take any drugs at all but here is what you can do.

To help you get that much needed sleep, go to the chemist and ask for an antihistamine tablet called PERIACTIN or CLARATYNE. Both work but the PERIACTIN you have to take half since it makes you sleepy. And if one of these works, then make an appointment with the doctor to refer you to a Allergy Specialist and then take it from there.

The two pills mentioned are both anti histamine tablets that help with the itching problem. Do not take hot hot showers, they are worse. Take short showers and try a detox diet if the problem is related to food allergy.

Good luck and I hope you get that much needed sleep.

First, don't drink. Have you had allergy testing? If not, I'd tell my doctor that I needed it. You could have a food allergy. It could be that whatever food you're allergic to is also used in the type of liquor you drink. Have you tried over the counter allergy meds? You could try one of those until you get to the doctor. Benadryl would probably give you the sleep you want. I wouldn't take it when I had to stay awake. There are daytime non drowsy antihistamines on the market. You really should see your doctor about allergy testing.

Its probably not a skin condition so much as a circulation problems. My wife suffers from a restless leg syndrome ever since our first child. I take it giving up alcohol is not an option so try drinking tonic water. It contains Quinine which is supposed to help. I appreciate tonic water is not very palatable and I'm sure you can get quninine tablets. See you doctor first to make sure is not something more serious and whether the Quinine will affect other drugs you may be taking.

My first thought is that you are dehydrated. If you don't have enough fluid in you system then this can cause the itching and feeling frustrated. The alcohol is a classic dehydrator so this will be why you feel worse after it. Try to drink more water.

My second thought is - have you changed your washing powder or any shower gels etc, they may be causing it.

Ultimately you need to see your doctor.
Good luck.

see your doctor about this. Have you tried changing the washing powder to a more sensitive to skin one, change your sheets regularly to help reduce itching. Although saying that, it might not be your washing powder. Could you be allergic to alcohol? Take an allergy test, ask a phamacy or nurse how & where you can do this.

I had the same thought, Jack. Sounds just like "opiate-itch." And the leg crawling can be withdrawals.

If not, go to the doctor and get tested for allergies.

It could be delirium tremors from alcohol withdrawal. Abusers of alcohol lose feeling for the air around them and when the come off of the alcohol and there skin starts to feel the atmosphere around them they feel creepy crawlies. Sometimes they hallucinate about bugs or rats on them.

I'm with the Answerer called Toshlyons. You need to get your kidney's checked. Itching can be a sign of end-stage renal failure.

First if its worst after drinking..stop. second see a dermatologist. If they find nothing wrong it could all be stress induced. Or you might have a mental health problem. Im no doctor but I would suggest you seek the help of one.
