Daystar is currenlty hosting what they call a "Sharathon" which appears to be a Begathon since they are doing nothing other than begging for money.

Which raised the question if they are "sharing," why don't they encourage people to call in and ask for money?

If God blesses the giver, shouldn't Daystar (and other tv prosperity preachers) be "trusting in God" and giving away money instead of begging for it?

Daystar sells air time to people who want to use their network. They raise money by selling air time, same as any other network.

If you want to put a show on Daystar (or TBN) it will cost you big bucks, so why is Daystar begging for money?

I don't see ABC, CBS, NBC or FOX begging for money.

Daystar's owners, Mr. & Ms. Lamb, claim they need the money to expand the network.

Of course, but then that would belie the whole operation, which is to become filthy rich.

I do not currently watch Daystar, but do watch TBN. I will assume they operate in a similar manner, and respond accordingly.
The asker may notice CBS, NBC, and ABC also have several commercials. (Those commercial advertisers are where they get their money).
As for the ministries, they get the money from (asking) so they can give money to others, whether it is school back packs, Katrina relief or whatever.

elaborate further on what daystar is and what their sharathon is being used for. There are alot of similar "sharathons" in things like private christian radio where they do not have sponsors or commercials and the entire program is funded by its listeners and supporters. In that aspect I dont see a problem with it being that people who enjoy and get something from the programming support its continuing broadcast. However I do have a problem with bishop this and that being on TV asking for money for prayers and his "special holy water" that will give you millions if you use it right. Those are crooks.

This is an important situation that surely needs to be addressed. I have known this to happen to people that gives to these ministries a lots and in need of great help, when they ask for help from these ministries-some of them, they are turned downed. Even after years of their giving. True you do not hear of them blessing anyone financially. I try not to worry about it though because the bible says it is more blessed to give than it is to receive. Your question is uncovering the truth in relations to some of these ministries.

It must be painful that no one is screaming for McCain, and no one is donating money to the GOP. push aside Obama if it makes you sense more advantageous acceptable, yet he in many circumstances is the subsequent president. no longer because he's fooling human beings, and in no way because he has a "closet finished of secrets and techniques" - both one in each of those are lies. he will win because he's the most smart human being operating, because he's the most basic human being operating, and considering he has the acceptable danger of undoing the damage and tear that Bush has been doing for the most suitable seven years.

we as people still have to make a living they are doing it through ministry. Just because you are a christian doesnt mean God will just hand you money, you still have to work, and they are a private company. Most private companies do fundraisers to gain money, dont think just because they are a christian company that they think God will just drop the money from heaven, in fact many Christians live in more poverty than alot of other people because they arent driven by greed.

My opinion is they probably cover their behinds by giving 10% of everyones donations to charity. Thats probably legally acceptable. And biblical somewhat
So they would no doubt say they do give to charity. no doubt that charity is started up by a close associate that gives 10% of their takings to charity also, and it would turn out its donated to the charity of the other close associate. All legal of course.
Many christians are way too blind to even think this realistically.
Charities are big business

Ugh. TV preachers get under my skin like a bad rash. They wouldn't have to "beg" if God was blessing them.

My suggestion: find a church that you like and donate to them.

They do. To run any Ministry, esp. a TV Ministry, one must raise funds. I've no problem. These same Ministry's give away millions annually in charity work, here and abroad.
