Because they are taught and conditioned that love is romantic, soft, caring, with a little bit of problems to be worked out and then everyone lives happily ever after.
Hollywood tries to get people to believe that real life can really be like the movies.
Which is why the divorce rate is going up, because life does not imitate art.

I like some chick flicks, like Bridget Jones, because it's kind of what every girl wants. Most of us (seeing from the responses here, I guess these movies aren't popular w/ everybody) want a relationship like the characters in these movies. Guys like porn, girls like romance and chivalry.

I am a girl and I HATE girlie flicks. I'd much rather sit and watch the footy thanks. I just don't get it, they are all soppy, plot less brain numbing tripe. so there. :-)
