dredge up pictures of people dancing with snakes, even if the church/churches in the story do not "handle snakes"?

I've never seen *that*, though I do think the media's going to highlight the most sensationalistic aspects of any religion. As a Witch close to Halloween (what many of us call "the media season"), I sympathize.

It was to show the church,
they had Faith that God wouldn't let the snake bite them,
Mark 16:17-18, which includes the "taking up of serpents" as one of five signs that identify true believers.
I think a snake did bite one preacher doing that.....
I think this was in Louisiana?

I don't know why that is.
I can't stand snakes. Absolutely no snake handling for me!!!!

Focus is on aberrant behavior always. We all tend to do that, no matter how spiritual we are. It does irritate us Christians, though, doesn't it?

maybe they are portaying a false pretense but i have not seen them do that.
