E-coli is not removed by washing the vegetables. E-coli can be found in vegetables and fruits that are harvested by anyone, immigrant or citizen. HOWEVER, by illegal immigrants coming into the USA UNSCREENED (no medical checks, as are legal immigrants) the chances are much greater that disease will be spread to the consumer via coughing, sneezing, breathing on produce and by their unsanitary conditions in the field. They HAVE been observed urinating in the field and if there are no hand washing or toilet facilities..well, what do YOU think?!! DEPORTING illegal immigrants would definitely reduce the chances of e-coli, hepatitus, Chagas disease, Morgellon disease, Dengue fever, Polio, and many more diseases from spreading into the USA. Some of those diseases were once eradicated from the USA, some are incurable. Do we want to take that chance with our families lives? I think NOT!!
The USA has never and will never FALL into ruin without illegal workers. OUR economy is not being held up by illegal workers. WE will survive if every single illegal immigrants politely WENT back to their country of origin and left us to take care of OUR people, not unwanted invaders!!

The disease aspects do worry me. The fact that these diseases are back and that leprosy is now 'endemic' to the US Northeast for the first time ever, yet it is not publicized so people can even think of being more careful is, unreal. Talk about putting political correctness above public welfare!
On the E Coli, though, I'll wait until the CDC comes out with its findings. They were plowing the fields under, and had layed off their work force. Moreover since that part of California has had more e coli outbreaks than seems reasonable to people, compared to other farming areas, it is being investigated for practices, generally. We'll see what they find out.
gidget, this stuff is bagged 'triple washed' just so you don't have to do that. Also, washing won't protect from e coli.

For those thar wont look at her link
I saw thousands of illegal aliens working in fields the length of California. I rode through Salinas Valley where illegals cultivated crops. I noticed porta-potties sometimes and none at other times. I never saw hand washing facilities. Pause for a moment, and consider cleanliness habits of Third World people with a fifth grade education. Why does disease affect millions in the Third World? What happens when millions migrate illegally to our country? Might dozens or more do their morning constitutional amongst the crops for lack of a porta-potty? Might the contamination be spread across the fields by the common practice of “flood irrigation?” Would flooding spread the contamination further?
You never ‘hear’ the major TV networks address or experts talk about this aspect of the contamination of our foods. It’s a cover-up, plain and simple. They only report it when it breaks out beyond their ability to squelch it.
Remember Chi Chi’s Restaurants in Pennsylvania that killed several customers because the work staff suffered hepatitis infections? Remember the Center for Disease Control stating they thought the source originated in Mexican fields irrigated with sewage water?
Have you heard about the latest multi drug resistant tuberculosis outbreaks in Philadelphia, Atlanta and near Cleveland this summer? We’ve imported at least 16,000 cases of TB in the past five years according to latest reports. Before that, TB was virtually extinct in America.
Tuberculosis kills 2,000,000 people world wide annually. Where? In the Third World! Why? Illiteracy, contaminated water, limited food and lack of hospital care! We’ve imported 7,000 cases of leprosy in the past three years. It’s endemic to the northeast of the United States for the first time ever. Have you heard about it by the major networks? Not a chance!
In an April 25, 2004 front page story of the Santa Barbara News Press, “Anatomy of an Outbreak”, one illegal alien infected 56 others with tuberculosis. After he avoided police for months, they finally captured him and placed him in quarantine. In September, 2005, a school child in Fort Morgan, Colorado contracted tuberculosis while attending school. How? An illegal alien student suffered from the disease, but was not screened before attending school. Our national media silences these outbreaks.
For the person talking about Aids?HIV
Mexicos population 106,202,903
US population.295,734,134
Big difference.and we do have the influx of illegals in our country ,YOU DONT !
And for SOOBEE IF YOU CANT ATTACK THE IMFORMATION THEN ATTACK THE POSTER, RIGHT ?
THATS SHOWS YOUR IGNORANCE

Anyone (legal or not) who works out in the fields without proper sanitation is a potential source for e-coli. The farm megacorporations should be encouraged to comply with existing federal regulations on the subject and provide proper sanitary conditions for farm workers.

No. It just show how narrow-minded people are. Using the outbreak of a deadly disease that killed thousands oh sorry, the e-coli outbreak killed only ONE person right? Undocumented workers have been working the lands for many years. The fact that this is the first and only disease outbreak that you can connect to them shows how pathetic your argument is.
Look up how many disease outbreaks have been caused by Americans who aren't hygienic. You'll find that they far outnumber those caused by migrant workers.

I'm not going to read the article because I'm sure that it was written by someone who like yourself is trying to convince Americans that illegals are endangering our safety.Good luck with all that.If YA! is any kind of reflection on the rest of Americans it shouldn't be too hard.
