im kinda hungry but i dont like to waste food so instead of making something fresh i have narrowed my choices down the ham and cheese sandwich that i made yesterday morning but got too drunk and forget about it so its been sitting on the counter for a day, or the leftover taco stuff that has been in the fridge for a week.

Neither. It's not safe to eat ham that's been sitting out over 4 hours. The week-old taco is too old, and the shell is probably soggy. Go have some cereal, even dry if you don't have milk. (Btw, it's time to make a list and go the store for a few staples.)

I'd say the ham & cheese probably have enough preservatives in them to make the sandwich a safer bet than the tacos. I'd butter the outside of the bread, throw it in a frying pan and make it a toasted ham & cheese..... you'll never know the bread was stale.... and ooey gooey cheesy ham.... yum!

Taco stuff. The ham/cheese won't be edible after being outside of the fridge for that long.

If you don't eat the ham and cheese, I will. The left over taco junk needs to go into the trash though.

well you can also narrow down your choices to the after effects:

1. eat spoiled food and get sick: you waste a load more of money and time in the hospital, you feel worse than just throwing the stuff out.

2. you throw it out now: you get to eat something fresh and yummy and you miss a probable trip to the hospital.

Throw the old food at someone. The entertainment value of this will surely not be a waste. Then eat something nice to celebrate.

Nuke the taco stuff and save the sandwich for later until the cheese starts to turn green -- then you know it's ripe and ready.

Instead of risking getting sick, just go out to a fast food place.

I think I'd rather be hungry than sick. Throw the stuff out!
