I think the word "Tit" came from Teat..........I'm not sure about boobs......I guess that just grew as an alternative for women who didn't want to say Tit................................

t i t or teat comes from before the 12th century so how it started is unknown, but is vulgar.
boob is from 1945 and listed at 'sometimes considered vulgar' so it guess it's suppose to be a nicer word.
both refer to a breast.
