Id be afraid to. I mean after it was proven to be safe, i dont think there would be any traffic jams, we would all save money on either cars or public transport but i guess there would have to be some sort of charge for the service. Maybe it would help the environment with less pollution. Who knows.. I mean, we dont really know how it would work so the pros and cons are endless... Maybe it would be worse for the environment or cost more for the user...

Look at the internet/world wide wed... a hi speed information highway or as Bill Gates titled his awesome book "Business at the Speed of Thought". It could be 100 years if that before the Web is used as a tool towards 'One World'... Clearly it is being developed as a cash cow and political power tool. In a nutshell teleportation would end up being the next 'thing' and world powers i.e. nations and corporations would scramble to keep things as they are and increase stock shares. On a brighter note there would surely be some abberations of good people trying to bring about a spiritual conversion with the new technology just as it is on the web but it will be a voice in the distance.

I think that the technology would be too expensive to own on a personal basis, I think that when it first comes out only the very rich will have them for personal use.
I do see it being put into place as mass transit units where you buy a ticket or token and are transported from one public place to another instead of busses or taxi's. I can see it being abused and monopolized and the teleportation rates being jacked up... if you don't believe me, ask anyone who plays a MMORPG that contains people who can teleport. The price only increases as time passes.
I do not think it will affect personal transportation devices like cars, etc.

I would wait until I was sure that science knew what it was doing. I think teleportation is possible, especially within the next sixty years. It would help society because we wouldn't have to spend money on gas; we wouldn't have so much pollution from gas; and the roads could be used for something else, like Nature.

Teleportation will make all other kinds of transportation seem very slow indeed. Just think about having breakfast in Paris, working in London, Lunch in Barcelona, working in London, Dinner in Rome, spend an evening in San Francisco before going to bed Ãn Tokio.
But I won't try it until it's proven safe.

It would get used very well. Think of how many people you could "deport" with such a system. no need for death camps or messy mass graves. Just tele-deport to the moon or the sun or somewhere.
