The national anthem is played on radio and television stations at 8 am and 6 pm. In some work places people stand up while it is played.

Yes the Thai national anthem is played daily in the city centre. The Thai people will stand still until the music has finished playing to show respect for their beloved King.

In certain parts of Bangkok the Thai national anthem is played at eight o'clock in the morning but not usually in the street. The Thais love and respect their royal family in a way we haven't in Britain for many many years. Overheard humorous remarks about them would not be appreciated.

No, not to my knowledge and I've been there on several occasions.

Thailand loves their king - during his recent anniversary, the whole country dressed in yellow for several weeks in commemoration - it was quite impressive!

The recent "coup" was in fact engineered with the accord of the king who has been fighting corruption all of his life - he considered the current PM to be corrupt and since he would not step down, he had to be taken down.

Thailand still remains a very peaceful and gentle country - the proof is that this whole "coup" happened with no bloodshed whatsoever - - - .

Not that I noticed but I went to a movie and we had to stand before it started while they played a tribute to the King.
