I gave what I thought was an honest and actually for a change a sincere reply to someone who wanted to know why people slam Christian's. Then it gets slammed. Why do you ask why if you don't want to hear the truth?
Not all Christians, but the majority are bent on converting people and imposing there morals on others. Most of the world doesn't not believe in Christianity. If you wish to practice that religion, then please feel free too. But do not impose your will or your beliefs on others. Do not damn someone for not believing in your religion. America was created by people trying to escape religous persecution. Now, America is starting to fight back against rather then run. This is why a large number of people are honestly, sick of dealing with Christians. And the sad part is, it is not all Christians. But because of a group of fanatical extremists, the entire religous organization is attacked. MMm..sort of reminds me of how people are treating muslims.

Nemrod - Sarcasimis was poor, what was worse was your knowledge of this Countries history. Actually, our founding fathers left "GOD" out of the Constitution for a reason. SO it wasn't based on Christianitity. And "GOD" wasn't in the pledge of allegiance originally either...but why believe the truth.

...I try to be winsome and kind in my witnessing, and not bullying - but understand that if the Bible is correct, people without Christ are in deep trouble and are headed for Hell; we have the solution, their only way of escape, through Jesus Christ, and every Christian is called to be a witness.
...There are some folks, however, who folks wish to silence Christians and confine their witness to inside church walls and other places out of the mainstream.
*********************************************
..."We simply argue that the cross be raised again at the center of the marketplace as well as the steeple of the church. We are recovering the claim that Jesus was not crucified in a cathedral between two candles, but on a cross between two thieves; on the town garbage heap; at a crossroad so cosmopolitan that they had to write His title in Hebrew, in Latin, and in Greek...at the kind of place where cynics talk smut and thieves curse, and soldiers gamble. Because that is where He died. And that is what He died about. And that is where churchmen ought to be, and what churchmen should be about."
...George MacLeod
*********************************************
...Now from the Scriptures, Acts 4:19-20
19 But Peter and John answered and said to them, "Whether it is right in the sight of God to give heed to you rather than to God, you be the judge;
20 for we cannot stop speaking about what we have seen and heard."
...And Acts 5:27-28
27 When they had brought them, they stood them before the Council. The high priest questioned them,
28 saying, "We gave you strict orders not to continue teaching in this name, and yet, you have filled Jerusalem with your teaching and intend to bring this man's blood upon us."
29 But Peter and the apostles answered, "We must obey God rather than men. "
...If the world hates us, that is no surprise:
John 15:18 says, "If the world hates you, you know that it has hated Me before it hated you."
...I do wish you a blessed eternity.

I'm a christian. I know what you mean. Seriously. I'm sorry for all the nutters out there. I'm probably one myself.
But... I do have to say that imposing morality on others is what happens in democracy. The majority's morality is enforced on the whole. I mean, yeah, there's freedom, but within the majority's chosen bounds, otherwise God knows what pedophiles etc would be doing. So in a democratic context I think Christians doing this (enforcing morality, not being a pedofile!) is okay. However, enforcing our christian morality on others by other means is wrong. So I'm sorry.
Also, damning people for not believing in our religion: The bible tells us that Jesus is the only way to heaven. So by "damning you" for not believing, we're just sticking by the good book. Whether that's made up to increase conversion, or the truth - that's the individual's decision.
I do have to point out that America was founded by extremist christians being persecuted by staid Christians. I'm sure that's what you meant but you make it sound as though it was founded by atheists. Not that I care, I'm Australian.
You say that we should "feel free" to believe in the bible. But very few 'atheists' practice this. "Not all atheists, but the majority are bent on offending christians and imposing their morals on them."
So my point is:
I'm seriously sorry for our extreme ways. We do it cos we think we're right. But many atheists are also VERY offensive, e.g. they attack me personally purely on the basis of religion when I don't even know them. Enforce their morality on me. Damn me for believing in God. Because they think they're right. Seesh...Democracy is the only hope, ay pacha?

Mostly the ones that slam you aren't the Christians, although there are some that don't believe the way you do that slams you also.
I get slammed quite frequently, and I take it with a grain of salt, it doesn't bother me. I try to be truthful with the answers to the best of my knowledge and understanding the Bible as I can be. It is a damn if you do, damn if you don't situation. If you answer truthfully about certain questions, they say you aren't a true Christian because Jesus was of love, and if you answer the way they want you aren't true to your religion.
So I figure I will answer the way God would want me to, the way it is in the Bible. Hey rather offend someone with the truth, then to condemn my soul to hell.
As it is written in the Bible don't fear people who can kill you, but rather fear the one who can kill your soul.

America was created by those wishing to practice their Christian beliefs without persecution.
And you are wrong, I meet more people who believe now that ever before.
Not all Christians are hypocrites, judgmental or "out to change" anyones mind.
Most of us believe what the Bible tells us, to tell others about Jesus and let the Holy Spirit do his work, which is to convict people of God and The Truth.

I couldn't agree more. Last night someone on here was saying that there was proof that the events of the Bible actually happened... so I flat-out asked them: "What proof are you talking about?" My post wasn't much more than that, but it got about five "thumbs down" responses almost instantly. I didn't even take a side; all I did was ask for an example! It was both confusing and hilarious at the same time.
"Why do you ask why if you don't want to hear the truth?" -- Yeah, I wonder that same thing myself, too. Religious people always come on here asking questions about evolution. Then they get 24 pro-evolution responses that actually answer the question, and one anti-evolution response that consists of a single line, and they always pick THAT one as the best answer. People write well-thought-out essays consisting of multiple paragraphs that answer their question in detail, but the answer that says "Yeah!! I agree!! Screw evolution!!" gets chosen as the best. Like you said, why do they even bother to ask? They're not looking for information; they're looking to vent.

I hear your point. There are MANY Christians out there whose conduct serves only to deter people from being interested in Christianity. I pray that I'm not one of them. You are free to believe or not believe as you wish. I am a Christian, but I am not better [or holier] than anyone else. I do not 'push'. Jesus Himself does not 'push'. But I do answer and give an account of my faith when asked. Peace. Be happy. A little mutual respect in here would go a long way.

God, being just, requires of us that we worship Him, through the religion he wishes, from the Church He established--"Upon this Rock I will build my Church...", the Catholic Church. The Founder (Jesus Christ) told His followers to go forth and spread the news (gospel)--that's why St. Francis ended up in China and Japan and St. Thomas went to India, for example. Were they "imposing their beliefs" on others? They didn't force anyone to listen to them. They knew they couldn't do so, anyway. We embrace God in His words and actions, not because we're forced to, but, using our free will, we do it out of love.
If there are "Christians" trying to force their beliefs on others, then they are going about it the wrong way, also indicating a general ignorance of what "it's all about."
The Muslim religion (Islam) is a false, violent, man-made religion, which, when it clashes with Christianity, causes problems...

We all fall short from the glory of God. Rememer, that we Christians do not get saved because we are good, we get saved by the mercy and grace of God.
People are here for the different reasons. And we are not by any means acting all the time like God wants us, if ever.
God gave you a free will. He loves you but He gave you permission to chose...that is the greatest love. What is the good news about the Gospels, that God loves you, and If you want to be with Him forever:you can.
I know that it can be irritating to be told about the moral standard of God, because they seem so strict compared to our own standards. God wants to protect us, and He really knows what is the best for us. We think we know, but we do not know all the options...and God knows.
Peace to you. God also wants you to have a life, not just to endure it.

There two great religious principles : The fact of the Fatherhood of God And the consequent recognition of the brotherhood of ALL men. Moslems and Jews accept father hood but stumble over brotherhood . Hindus and Buddhists accept brotherhood but have no real heavenly Father. Christianity knows both , however imperfectly.

I don't blame you for being mad.
How dare those people try to show you that they love you and care about your mortal soul
They should be ashamed for trying to give you what they believe to be the most precious gift in the universe.
Oh yea, that praying for you stuff, they should be trampled for that one.
You tell um boy, that's what our four fathers were trying to do when they based the entire founding of our country on Christian beliefs.
