Hospitals that are affiliated with medical schools aren't necessarily better than other hospitals. They are teaching hospitals, which means that troops of neophyte doctors and students trail their instructors around and watch the procedures and processes on live patients. They also are allowed to do some of those processes, under supervision. But if you want to be totally analytical about it, at a teaching hospital you have the older doctors, who have a lifetime of experience behind them but may or may not be up on the newest techniques, and you have the doctors-in-training, but little in between. A good hospital in a large city, with a staff of younger doctors might be a better bet. Of course, it all depends on which country your friend is from. His advice may be very valuable in that location, but not necessarily valid where she is living now.

Absolutely. Doctors at University Hospitals teach medical students, meaning they are the top physicians in their specialties. To become a professor at a Medical School you must have a lot of experience and be a leading expert in your field.

Up for debate. Med. schools push the interns to the max! They get stressed, n then may make bad decisions. But, they have more supervision and try harder. To the best of my knowledge, they are often better just cuz of the supervision. A doctor can't stand in front of a group of students and make a WRONG choice! Destroy his credibility. So, on that basis, I wud say yes... Med school is probly better. There are specialized clinics where one can go, but, can U afford them? They COST!!!

Logically i would say yes, since they have a vast library of resources at their whim, if need be. However, personally, i do not like being treated by a student doctor or have student doctors peer in at me during any treatments.

Yes. But for routine care, such as an exam or pap smear why bother going to the city?
