Advancing years have given me "middle age spread". I don't feel guilty about it, but I am controlling my diet, and have managed to lose 20 pounds (weight!). There is a way to go yet, but I do not know what my objective really is .. I'm far too old to be chasing women! Why should I bother? PLEASE don't mention health. Regular check-ups reveal that I am as fit as a butcher's dog.

Congratulations on your weight loss, keep it up, however do it for yourself and not for others. Yes I have a fat friend who also has a fat wife, it worries me as they are so unfit and it is ruining their lives as they are very restricted in what they can do, I would love them to lose weight.

If health is not to be mentioned, what about prolonged good quality of life? It s*ucks when you get up in the morning and find yourself unable to get out of bed or do other basic routines yourself. Never take what you can do these days for granted! How many fat friends can live a quality life after they are 80 years old?

Maybe you want to lose weight as you prefer the look of yourself that way. You can make yourself look good for yourself, rather than to attract members of the opposite sex.

Oh, and to answer the original question: I have two fat friends. I'm not quite sure what that has to do with the rest of your question though...

I'll tell you why you should bother. Heart disease, decreased immunity...there are so many potential things that can change when there is more body the blood must circulate to and through.

I advise you to chase more women, that way you might loose more weight and could even catch one

As long as you feel ok with it yourself (and dont wear trousers with an elasticated waist) then I dont see a problem either.
Have a nice day :)
