You should never skill a meal. This can cause weight gain because your body thinks you are starving and store food in the form of fat. Ideally you should eat 5 or 6 small, healthy meals per day. There are so many diets out there but it seems to me they all want you to eat small portions, lower transfats, eat lean meat, cut out sugar and foods that are high in perservatives (eat organic when possible because perservitive can cause you to store fat), eat high fiber veggies and fruits, no white flour products or potatoes (except sweet potatoes). I think if you want to lose weight you need to be consistant and not take days off unless you are doing Body for Life which is a good program.
For many people it is easier to follow a program then to just eat healthy and exercise. Body for Life is a good one and controls your exercise program. I think it is possible to over exercise but I think it is better to over exercise then to under exercise. If you find that you are eating too much after work outs then may you should take it down a notch.
If you want to just eat less of what you normally eat then Weightwatchers is the best program. You still should avoid white bread and white pasta but you can eat pretty much everything else in moderation and you get points for exercise.
You will be more successful at losing weight though if you give up the unhealthy foods and follow a heathy diet. You are also less likely to gain back the weight. You can still have a treat but that should be once a week not twice a day, right.

Even though I'm not dieting,I find that if I skip lunch,I just make up for not eating later on in the afternoon. Most of what I eat then wouldn't be considered healthy choices because at that point,I am so hungry I'll just grab whatever I can.The best way I have heard to lose weight is to actually eat 5 small healthy meals a day.Not only does it keep your metabolism at an even keel,it also prevents you from becoming so hungry that you'll just shove a bunch of cookies in your mouth instead of something nutritious.Whatever way you chose as the best solution for you,you just have to stick to it and try not to cheat, even though I know that is hard.It is also not good to try to lose alot of weight quickly.A healthy amount of weight loss is 1-2 pounds a week.Losing it too fast will just make you feel miserable in most cases.Exercise about 15-20 minutes a day, don't over do it.

No, don't skip lunch...if anything have a decent lunch and a light meal in the evening, this way you have all day to work off your lunch and and you wont go to bed after a huge meal with no means of burning off the calories. As for all the other things on your list, forget it, just eat healthy meals, if you do sway do it in moderation and exercise to what you feel you can cope with...your body is the best indicator...listen to it. Nobody can follow one set of rules, we are all too different. Good Luck.

The absolute best way to eat when you're trying to lose weight is to eat several (not just 3) small meals a day, instead of three big ones. That way you don't get hungry between meals and snack on stuff you shouldn't. As to what to eat, that's pretty much common sense by now. Just do that and exercise regularly and you'll be fine. The main thing is not to stress over it, just get in a routine and stick with it and you'll eventually see the results.

Skipping a meal causes the body to hold onto fat. Reducing what you eat and getting more exercise is always a good way to lose weight. I have heard that if you diet 6 days a week it is a good idea to ge off of it 1 day and it can be a small treat day that way you do not feel cheated. Good luck

For Christs sake, jsut eat healthly, salads, fruit, white meat, at least two servings of red meat a week and you'll lose the weight...... oh and don't forget to exercise... I really wish people would stop going on about how stoping eating makes you loose wieght, OF COURSE IT DOES you're not putting anything into your body..... not enough, nutrients.... so yes you will loose wieght if you do't eat enough but you will also see your hair start to become thinner, your skin will be dull, wrinkles more obvious, you will feel tired all the time and be in bad humour quite a lot of it......... as yourself which is worse, the above symptoms or getting off your **** and exercising a bit 30 mins a day, start of 3 times a week and work your way up..... it'll pay off slowly but effectively... the way it's meant to.

If you eat less, then you will not be able to eat much less without getting more hungry before the next meal...
You need to balance out your diet AND eat moderately...
eat what you need... eat slowly so that your stomach has time to tell your brain that you have had enough...
avoid snacks like chips and coke... they don't give you energy that will last very long...
I weighed 225 and I'm down to 185 now... and I did not do much other than start eating more fruit and veggies.. and cut back on the "oh there is just a little left.. I had better eat it" times.

People make weight loss and maintenance so complicated. Eat...just control your portions and make healthy food choices. Bake the chicken instead of frying it. Have steamed brocolli w/garlic instead of cheez sauce. As for the portions, make yours as if you were preparing them for a 5-year old. (not a lot, right?) Also, you need to excercise at least 3X a week. You can walk, rollerblade, take a vigorous dance class, swim or join a gym. The important thing is that you get moving. (Oh, try to add a few weight reps in there if you want to tone a few areas.)
Stop stressing, control your portions, move your body, and enjoy life!

I once tried a fasting diet. Choose one day each week during which you eat nothing (zero, zip, nada, goose egg) but drink at least 80 oz. of water in the 24-hour span. By doing so, you reduce your weekly food consumption by approximately 15%.
What's nice about this, is that you eat normal foods and quantities, during the other six days. Fasting means that there's nothing to calculate, weigh, prepare, buy, analyze, or remember. When you "break fast," you can do so with a light meal - perhaps a serving of cottage cheese. Then go about your dietary business as usual.
There is a book written about this diet, but the name of the author/doctor escapes me. As with any diet, however, follow the precautions regarding the approval of your personal physician.

It is really very simple: To lose weight you need to consume fewer calories during a day than your body needs to maintain its current weight.
Your suggested approach of eating less of the things you normally eat is the best, provided that you can keep the number of calories lower.
Exercise more to burn more calories.
