A lot of people use "Civilised Society"? What are the parameters for a scoiety to be termed civilised?

Belittling others, spreading hatred, arrogance, invading countries, are these the ingredients of a civilised society?

Civilized usually means things are done our way.

Civilization is supposed to be relative, not absolute. The standard of measure of civilization should vary among countries, races and cultures.

While it is normal in the western world to hug and kiss a woman in public, or for a woman to share homekeeping with the husband, such things are not acceptable to the culture of other places like the Arab world or Africa. Indeed, it is considered obscene, animalistic and even illegal in the latter places for a man and a woman to hug in public, not to talk of kissing each other.

Every society has its own unique measure of civilization. Is Africa not referred to as the cradle of modern civilization?

Civilization should not be confused with industrialisation. The West may be more industrialised, but not necessarily more civilized than the so-called third-world.

As I compare our "civilized Society" with 50 years ago, I would think that we are going down hill and pretty soon won't be civilized any more.
