A few of options:
1) Gurnee, IL. There a lot of choices: Golden Corral (all you can eat), Joe's Crab Shack, Chili's, IHOP, Cracker Barrel, Lone Star, Outback, TGIFriday's, Red Lobster, Applebee's, Giordano's, Olive Garden, Uno Chicago Grill.
2) Schaumburg, IL Even though Schaumburg isn't in Lake County, it's next to Lake County in Cook County. Some good places are: Benihana, Big Bowl (Asian and Thai cuisine), Cheesecake Factory, Chevys Fresh Mex, PF Chang's, Shaw's Crab House. Highly recommend Big Bowl and Shaw's.
3) Kenosha, WI This town is right across the IL/WI border. I only know of a couple of places: La Hacienda, Texas Roadhouse.
4) Waukegan, IL Only one place: Quonset Pizza
5) Vernon Hills/Lincolnshire, IL. They have some of the same restaurants as Gurnee. They also have: On the Border (mexican), Famous Dave's (BBQ), and Cheesecake Factory.

How 'bout a trip NORTH!!! Lake Geneva's Popeyes is nice... A lot of nice bars, too!!! Let's see- there's Hogs 'n' Kisses, Champs, Thumbs Up, Foley's, etc. Lake Geneva, Wisconsin is only about 70 miles from O'Hare International... Take 94 North to Hwy 50 East...

How about Bucca de Beppo's on 21 in Wheeling? And Quonset in Waukegan is great, as is Louie's. Sort of holes in the wall, but good food and they have been there forever!
