on the side of recorder should be 3 little sockets.. the Red one is the 'mic plug in power' one... try and use a stereo mini-mic for best results

Yes you can.

You will need to plug it in to the red socket on the side of your M/D.

However......Not all mikes will work as you will need to but one that is "plug in power" This means you will need to buy a microphone that has its own power supply which is normally a small battery inside the mic.

this is because with very small appliances ( like your M/D ) they do not put an amplifier on the mic curcuit ( thus saving space and battery life )

Sony do an excellet range of mics to suit most needs.

There are two types of mic. Omnidirectional and Unidirectional.

Omnidirectional mics pick up sound from all arond and are good to use for conferences where the mic would be in the cntre of a table recording what everyone says.

Unidirectional. only pick up sound where you point them and are good for recording vocals or sound from one source.

It is worth noting that if you are going to be recording your own voice then a mono mic will do as your voice will not be stereo.

Hope this helps.

you should desire to analyze if the options on your previous participant/recorder are resembling those on the recent one. no longer all ideas on one device are available on others, even if those come from an analogous producer. as an instance: some MD recorders don't have the alternative of playing discs recorded making use of the "lengthy play" approach.

not sure what you try to ask. if you mini disc has audio input jack, you can record your voice from microphone or from other source.
