Not really an answerable question, very few details are given about fasting. Several verses say things like, John's disciples were fasting, or the Pharisees were fasting etc. I can't recall hardly anything in the Epistles, which is the teachings for the church age, about fasting at all.
I have done a fair amount of fasting over my life and studied it to some extent, contact me if I can be of any help.

The longest is 40 days!
Some today can and have fasted for 40 days!
Most will not die of starvation in less than 60 days
For survival it is the law of 3's
3 minutes with out air (some can survive at 6)
3 days without water (some can survive at 5)
3 weeks without food (some can do 9 weeks)
For survival, you need to do work, like walk swim etc
If you can no longer do work, you can no longer survive!

The list would be much, much too long to appear here. For example, Chapter 4 of the Book of Esther documents a fast among all Israelites in captivity; we can't possibly list them all!
I suggest you go to www.biblegateway.com and perform a search of the OT and NT for the term "fast." You will be surprised at the number of times it's mentioned. Alternatively, go to www.blueletterbible.com and search the Hebrew Lexicon for Strong's number 06684 and the Greek Lexicon for Strong's number 3522.
Peace.

It would be better to get a book on fasting. Every Jewish person fasted as did the apostles. Here's a great website on fasting: http://www.billbright.com/howtofast/
Bill Bright is with Campus Crusade for Christ.....
