Moldova was the traditional holiday spot for Russians in Soviet days. When I was there a few years ago (and quite probably still) Russians did not need visas -- there was a bilateral waiver.

EU and USA citizens do need visas now; the requirement as to them will be abolished on 1 Jan. 2007: http://www.moldovanembassy.org.uk/index.php?text=42

The fact that your Russian wife is married to you does not change the visa regulations applicable to holders of Russian passports. She will be entitled to residence in England as your spouse but she will have to satisfy the visa requirements of any country she may wish to visit outside of England.

i take it she has a stamp on her Russian passport giving her a visa. you need to apply to the country you are going to for a holiday visa explain the situation and she will probably have to go for an interview with their embassy to prove she just wants holiday and you have no intention of staying etc, you have your own home and job and you are better off in the UK than their country.

Even though she is married to you, she is still a Russian citizen so must abide by visa rules that apply to Russia. You can travel freely to many countries where she will need a visa.
