Veggies will not cure it, trust me. I eat like a silly rabbit, and it didn't save me. In fact, it will cause the hyper to be even worse in you -- here's why. And it's really gross, so enjoy (and schedule a meeting with the doctor):

Hyperactive thyroids cause your metabolism to speed up. You eat like normal but you body passes the food too quickly to absorb the proper nutrients for good health. (Look at your fingernails -- huge moons? Lacking nutrients, my dear.) So, you eat a nice meal and it all gets processed quickly, too quickly with very little energy being digested much less absorbed. Your body needs energy to continue life, so it gets a bit hungry. What happens is the fun stuff -- as you go into starvation (which hyper makes happen, even though you are eating normally), your body starts selecting the best sources of protein to break down, in order to produce that needed energy. Protein=meat, meat in a person is muscle. Ahah! Here's a nice big set of leg muscles! (Your thighs are "toast.") Your body breaks down the thigh muscles, sending the energy to other parts of the body to continue living. (Have you noticed you tremble as you walk down the stairs? Fun stuff!) So ... if you are looking for the veggie cure, you will enter this body-eating-itself phase much sooner than if you were eating whole, well-rounded meals. Still sound like a good alternative?

The vegetables would have to have radioactive iodine in them to help. The rest of the time, you would need surgery or other treatments.

No. Any malfuction of the thyroid is a serious condition that requires a doctor's supervision and med management. I appreciate your desire to find alternative treatment but in this case there really is no other option. Please seek traditional treatment - this is not something to flirt with. You could do yourself real harm.

I don't know of any. Two people that I know that have hyperthyroidism had their thyroid killed through iodine infusion. Now they are on large quantities of synthroid.
