What a question. I guess you will not find a reliable statistic on rapes - most of them are kept as a secret. Don't you know your Ex's sister? If so you should offer your help.

Women get raped or sexually assaulted pretty much once a minute in the USA. It is possible to get raped anywhere at any time. If you truly doubt what he is saying and you know his sister then you should offer an ear if she needs to talk about it.
The brother is probably confused and angry that something like this happened to his sister and right now may need to take a step back so he can take care of family matters.
It is not unusual for family members of a rape victim to withdraw socially and to feel confused, angry, or helpless. I would suggest they both go for some therapy at a local rape crisis center.
Your boyfriend may be blaming himself for not being there to watch out for his sister so don't be too hard on him. This is tough for everyone involved try to be understanding.

you knowing the statistics does not prove whether it happened or not. if it didnt then you shouldn't be with him anyway cos thats any awful thing to lie about. if it did then you are being rather selfish right now cos what she is going through is much worse than what you are going through.

all you have to do is pull the local newspaper up on line and check the crime stats. I seriosuly doubt that he would lie about something as serious as that though, I mean damn thats insane.
