I am not aware of drugs themselves are the direct cause of disease. However, the side effects that come with drug intake can be and is of real concern. Examples of these side effects might be loss of appetite, disruption of the sleep cycle, suppression of the body’s natural immune system, and changes the brains chemical balance. Bad diets, loss of sleep, and immune suppression open up the body for infections; including bacterial, viral or even cancers. Changing brain chemicals is a little different. Bain chemicals affect the way we perceive and interpret the world around us. Change the chemical balance and good decisions can go out the window. Bad decisions often equates to bad lifestyles such a poor hygiene, sexual issues, risk taking and stunting the overall development of the brain. One sees the brain side effects of drugs first, falling behind in school, and in life choice changes, the other diseases will follow given time. The good news is no drugs, no side effects no problem
